Limited saves Xbox one?

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 6:28 pm

I couldn't find this, but wanted to ask if there is a limit on how many saves you can have on the Xbox One Fallout 4? Is there a way to save to an external TB drive or cloud rather the XB1 hard drive? I keep getting a message when saving my fallout 4 game stating insufficient space... delete saved game....

Thank you!

I'm not sure if there is a limit or not, but too many saves will start to affect the performance of your game, so its best to keep as few as possible if you can. I usually clear mine out at the end of each week.

This is good advice and what any veteran of playing Bethesda's RPGs on consoles will tell you.

Also, turn off most/all Autosaves and get in the habit of manually saving/overwriting your files. Autosaves can lead to crashes and save data corruption, so it's good form to practice both of these pieces of advice.

I've never had that problem in previous Fallouts nor Skyrim... then again none have been on Xbox One. Appreciate it and will have a lot of scrubbing to do.

One thing to keep in mind, this game makes a new save on each Autosave. So that can fill the drive up.

A couple of things you can do is to turn off some of the reasons it Autosaves, like on Fast Travel or Wait or what ever. I turned all my options off but to Autosave every 15 minutes

No problem. Glad to be of help.

Lots of people lost save files or had corrupted data with previous games, so you were just lucky. There really is nothing quite like having 500+ hour save file go corrupt on you when you have no backups.

Anyway, yeah, spread the word to the uninformed whenever possible. The habitual save management is a small price to pay for better efficiency. These games are usually filled with memory leaks, so there are other ways to keep your files tidy too. One way is by picking up all dropped weapons and either selling them, breaking them down or stuffing them in a corpse/container. Weapons didn't despawn properly in Skyrim, so you'd often find weapons on the ground from random events that you didn't see occur from 50+ hours ago, and that ALL has to be "remembered" by the game.

Always try to clean up after your enemies, it makes the game run better.

Does the quicksave feature recycle saves?

I just have Autosave on Pipboy every 60 minutes. I compulsively manually save anyway, so I'm always good. Lack of console commands and dead named NPCs teaches a tough lesson to console gamers.

Here's hoping that Mods will give us limited console commands. True, they cannot give us full console commands, but if they found a way to section off and grant us NPC resurrection, better item cleanup and spawning/despawning, and the ability to just fix small environmental issues like clipping or dodgy textures; if they gave us just that, it would help immeasurably.
