So the BOS is starting to piss me off

Post » Sun Dec 06, 2015 3:34 pm

This play-through I bypassed Sanctuary and Preston Garvey altogether and headed straight for the Cambridge Police Station with the intent of joining the BOS, going as far as I possibly could in their ranks before being forced into the MQ, and doing nothing else.

Let's just set aside the fact that that jack-### continues to be rude and obnoxious to me even after I've shed blood for the Brotherhood umpteen million times. Let's forget about the fact that aside from some very good looking BOS fatigues which I've lifted off of dead people, a starting level laser rifle from Danse, and metal chest piece, also from a dead guy, this organization sends me out into the field to take care of their ops without providing me anything in the way of protection or sufficient ammo. Fine, they're holed up in a police station without many resources of their own. The situation is desperate and I have to play ball until we can all complete the "mission", whatever that might be. I can role-play as well as the next guy.

What I'm having a hard time with is understanding where it's all going and knowing whether or not these endless fetch quests actually do ever end, or whether I have to take a break from them and start the MQ (and follow Nick to find Kellogg then discover the BOS airship, etc.) before this stagnant, uninteresting "guild" quest ever moves along. I figured when I got back from finding all the members of the missing recon team that Danse would actually give me another quest and something would happen, but no. He just tells me he's busy and I have to go talk to ####weed and his little girlfriend for more endless radiant fetch quests.

Am I locked into this or does the whole thing start moving after a set amount of time? If anyone can help, no need to give me heavy spoilers---just tell me what to/where to go next, or just to stay put and keep doing the radiant quests and something will eventually happen. Many thanks. Sincerely, frustrated.

Clarification for your sanity.

1. The Fetch Quests are Radiant Quests and do not, in any way, advance your status in the Brotherhood.

2. The only quest which matters is Paladin Danse's "Survivor" one where you find out what happened to the Lost Patrol.

3. You don't even need to finish that one, just agree to help him recover the tech from the factory with the Synths and you're in the Brotherhood. He needs boots on the ground and you qualify.

4. The Brotherhood does not arrive until Kellog is dealt with.

The game really doesn't let you ignore the main plot.

Much like Skyrim and being the Dragonborn.

They're just handing out radiant quests, same as the minutemen.

You need to do the MQ to begin the proper BoS questline.

Hey,

I am pretty sure the Cambridge Police Station quests you get from your male buddy are neverending, randomly chosen quests out of a couple of possible locations.

The lack of warning on that was really annoying.

I assumed there was an ending to the quests and I was on a chain.

NOPE!

Wow thanks a lot guys.

This is very disappointing. I mean I figured I'd have to start the MQ at some point---all roads lead to it---but I thought maybe I'd get some more content in terms of life in the Brotherhood before being forced to start the MQ. Wow, this game is more shallow than I thought. Don't get me wrong, I love it still, but as you said Charlemagne the game doesn't let you ignore it. Not if you want to do anything aside from randomly roaming around and doing side quests.

Yeah. I fell into the same hole as you did with the RR.

I feel your pain.

Yeah it took me several runs to realize that basically its a Fallout version of Skyrim's dawnguard quests with Knight Rhys (Gunmar) sending you out to kill abominations (vampires) and Scribe Haylen (Sorine) sending you out to gather tech (schematics) and is just there for money and experience.

They really needed to flesh it out some. Some sort of ranking system (for mods, gear or status), or at least give you some vouchers for ammo.

If you get a quest with the same (or mostly the same) name as a former one, it is a radiant quest. In this case, both quest givers tell you that they have a neverending supply of quests.

Only the guy who made the Railroad quests made radiant quests that end at some point (and he makes it clear).

Have a Commonwealth with no BoS than have them appear and change the way life in the Commonwealth goes rather than have BoS be there from the start and skip all the complications of having to implement the changes that happen after they appear. Heck, making factions be an integral part of the storyline rather than just some soulless quest givers! Very shallow and so lazy for Beth's part...

In other words, I think you need to find another term.

All in all, the arrival of the BoS to the Commonwealth is THE principal event that puts the story into motion, ends the Stats Quo between the traditional factions and even slightly alters the world of Commowealth. There is a reason why Beth went through extra effort to make them not be there from the very start.

As said here theres a reason why it is so, and the game does not force you finish the main quest it just pushes you along a bit so that all factions are intruduced to the world, after that you can wander around and do random [censored] for as long as you desire without forcing you to actualy finish before you chose to do so, just dont advance faction story lines bejond the point of no return(game will actualy warn you of that when you get there)

Do the main quest in diamond city and you can buy armor and weapons at their real base (trying to avoid spoilers here)
