PC User - mouse & keyboard or controller?

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 11:18 am

Interesting. The only time I've ever felt "slow" during combat in an FPS was playing pvp in cod or bf. I often find I'm actually overaiming with controller sometimes when I'm playing fo3. I've never been in a situation playing fallout that was a frantic firefight where pinpoint accuracy and unnatural reflexes were needed haha I've tried with a k&m, felt more like a bobblehead than an effective shooter

I have a controller for my desktop, but it only seems useful for driving and aircraft games.

To be honest, my aim is pretty bad. I mean, it's above average, but I can't seem to make it better (it's easier to see with guns such as snipers), especially in games like Payday 2, Dirty Bomb, TF2, Fistful of Frags...(I want to be always better than before, I almost always play FPS games competitively.)

I think a lot depends on learned reflex. In high pressure situations your hands and eyes will tend to fall back on the movements and adjustments they're most used to. If I've got the mouse sensitivity set wrong my aiming can go all over the place, so it's probably a lot worse if you're very practised with controller. Even if a game isn't ideally designed for one control system or another, it'll usually be easier to play using your preferred system.

You'd probably have to be dividing your gaming between systems a fair bit to be comfortable using the 'best' control system for any given game.

I'm a controller guy!! To me it more comfortable to play long sessions holding a controller.

Mouse and keyboard. For certain titles, namely the AC series, I plug in my xbox controller and roll with that because it feels more fluid. But, with a heavily modded Skyrim, I tend to need more keys for all the various hotkeys I have set up. I trust it'll be the same deal with Fo4.

I'm terrible with controllers when it comes to FPP games. Most of the time the camera angle is controlled with the left stick and movement with right and I can never get the amount of pressure right to do a gradual pan or tilt so I end up either looking straight up or at my feet. So I'll most certainly be sticking to KB&M because I'm too much of a gumby with a controller.

Unless you changed the orientation of the sticks, I've actually always found it to be the opposite. Which makes sense since they would typically favor a right handed default scheme. You'd want look/aim to be with the dominant right handed stick and the motion that needed less precision (moving character) to be with the less dominant left handed stick
