I found one really useful mod for Fallout 4 on Nexusmods.

It violates one of my prime rules - no esp mods until the Creation Kit comes out - but it shows how useful the current FO4Edit is for checking out mods.

Mod title is "Sort My Stuff", and it applies an inventory prefix to each item in the Aid category.

FO4Edit shows exactly what the author did, and how he did it.

Every item in the "Ingestible" category had a prefix added to the name like [F] for food. Everything winds up sorted by type - which is great.

So for those interested in early mods, possibly created by FO4Edit, there are safe ones out there that actually work very well.

For your own safety, also check the mod out with FO4Edit. It is very useful in it's current alpha form. Just don't use it to make any changes on your own.
