Scrapped spectacle island, need help.

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 11:19 pm

so I accidentally scrapped the breaker switch to keep the mirelurks away from spectacle island, and now they keep spawning all over the place, I managed to fence off part of the island and set up defences, but my settlers keep going outside the fenced area and getting in trouble. any suggestions to fix this?

I tried rewiring it and stuff, but it doesnt quite work the way I want it to, and I kinda built a huge settlement before I noticed the mirelurks slowly coming back to haunt me, I probably wont reload an earlier save though if there is no way to fix it, since its just too much work.

I honestly don't build a settlement there. I use Spectacle Island as a home where bad settlers goes to. "Sleep in my bed? Then you shall be banished to the island!"

Yeah, I did something similar. Accidentally pulled the wire from the breaker switch on the boat that goes to the first junction thingamabob. Now, I can't get it to wire up to anything at all. So there goes a free generator for 20 electricity. :(

But I didn't jack up anything on the other end, where the actual machine is that wards off the mirelurks, so I could just build a generator or two there and power the thing. It's currently my biggest settlement at 18, and it's gonna become my primary source of agriculture and water purification (hydroculture?). Put up enough defenses to keep the settlers there happy, but with the mirelurk thing running there seems to be no need for any real defenses. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until every settler there has every relative and friend kidnapped by the raiders at BADTFL (all seven of them).

Go away and they won't get eaten while off screen?

Or build bigger with more turrets and kill them as they come?

Or just ignore the problem and let your settlers get eaten once in a while?

That's the waste of the largest workshop area!

Send them to Jamaica plains or, if you are especially cruel, to the Coastal Cottage. Those places are just so horrible that nobody deserves to live there.

Settlers are Protected. They can only be killed by the player.

I don't like islands. Mutfruit is OP food source. And water is easy to gain at huge amounts at other settlements as well.

It was a joke about breaking the fourth wall. As nothing happens when your character isn't in the vicinity :)

Was gonna say, I've never watched a settler killed either. They always do like companions; they just sit there on the ground until the fight is over, then get up and go back to whatever they were doing. But they never die in front of me. One of the named ghoul settlers at the Slog died, though, while I wasn't there. At least, I didn't see it happen. Can't move the body, and it won't go away, and it's right on top of two lines of carrots beside the tarberry pond. Kind of unsettling.

I love Spectacle Island. Wish I could scrap ALL of the radioactive stuff on that barge, though, so I could build on that space. That's a cool little setup over there. Wind farm, anyone?

Plant lots of heavy duty machine guns.
With enough present, they can take down vertibirds.

i also did this but i usually only get one mirelurk spawning and he gets killed by turrets before even becoming an issue. i use spectacle island as my main base. i built it so that way the settlers cant get out and for the most part it works well. i dont know why people dont like the island. id say its one of the better locations to build.

I did this at the Castle. The Brotherhood attack failed so epicly that I had to reload due to a glitched Vertibird just floating in the air, refusing to blow up.

LOL

Also, this is why I love Bethesda games. I haven't even FOUND spectacle island yet. And I've played for over 100 hours already.

Well you've certainly seen it on the map you can't miss it, but it covers the WHOLE DAM island. You can get a ton of wood and steal from that place.

Amen to that - those are horrible places.

I sent Strong to Croup Manor to live amongst the ghoul corpses as punishment for not shutting up.
