I livework in the Boston area

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 8:44 pm

Becuase I am from here, I know most of the landmarks that will be in the game. I can't wait to go and visit them all. I hope they are somewhat true to the geography. My dream would be to build a house (just like my own) in the location of my current real house. I have not decided what I want to do to my work building, assuming it stands in the game. ;)

Any other locals like me looking forward to this?

Well I assume like in 3/NV there is going to be some map compressing, so expect places to be much more closer to each other then in real life, but otherwise it will be accurate Im sure, they did do a location scouting tour after all.

So, know of any super spooky places they might include in the game?

Any possible raiders forts they might include, or supermutant strongholds in your area?

I live in the DC area, and it was pretty cool playing FO3 and seeing names and places that I'd been to, recognized, and would hear every day on the traffic reports. sometimes when they'd mention Olney I couldn't help but think don't go there, full of deathclaws, lol

I would like to ask if Mass General is just north of Colonial Theater? Also do you know any history of Greenwich, MA? The town was submerged when the reservoir was built right?

Yes Sir I am. Not a local anymore but Born an Raised there and only live a bit up 93 now

Gonna be weird but cool as heck to walk around all the places I've seen. A lot more personal than NV and 3 were. Should be interesting!

How [censored] would it be if someone like you wins the grand prize in the fallout 4 sweepstakes and wins a trip to the city you already live in? lol

You may already know this, but you can't build a house just in any place on the map, there are pre-existing areas that are set up for settlements. But if wherever your house is isn't by a settlement spot, perhaps you can mod it in. :)

I knew that, so I was hoping for that low chance. I didn't even think about a mod helping me out!

Speaking of mods, I'd rather build a "good" house with real walls, instead of the post-war shanty house (https://lori4twb.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/dsc00424.jpg) I saw in the demo (also surely fixable by a mod).

@TheGamerGrim The spooky places in the area are the bad neigborhoods. I'll be looking to see if they are similarly full of raiders :)

Not a local myself, but I was born and raised very close by and I've visited Boston many times over the years for work and fun times. I'm looking forward to a potentially more personal Fallout experience this time around, but I'm also somewhat trying to not get my hopes up if they change too much outside of a few of the more prominent landmarks, which I'm sure they did to quite an extent due to necessary game design. Still, I'd love if in the game I was to suddenly come across some of the smaller areas I've frequented in real life.

Indeed. There was http://f4fans.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/7-Tub.jpg that had different walls (which look really cool I think), so hopefully there will be more variation.

What are the odds they include TD Garden? Perhaps with angry Hockey Mutants?

I lived in Boston for six years during college and then moved to Providence, with much leisure time spent in Boston thereafter, but I cannot say I have ever seen a game that mimics the actual geography of the cities they represent. Usually (with just geography and landmarks) it's done in spirit. GTA is an obvious example of how close we can try to get to real life, but it's obviously never close, until you approach the landmarks, in which case developers can make exceptions to get everything "just right" within a certain radius of square mileage.

I went on the nighttime Ghosts and Gravestones tour of Boston graveyards, that was pretty spooky.

I imagine we'll get a burial ground or two...

Or perhaps a ruined bar 'Where Every Ghoul Knows Your Name'

In one of the new videos Bethesda published about Fallout 4 we know that...Emil I think his name is (the lead writer)? Lived in Boston and we can find his destroyed house in-game.

I've been to Boston a number of times and am also looking forward to exploring it in-game. I happened to be driving through Nevada one time, and made to stop in Goodsprings to visit the saloon, and also checked out the roller coaster down the road, lol. It was kinda fun to see it in real life. This will be the opposite as I've already seen Boston IRL, should be fun.
