By now, most of us know about the joke that is Bos Vertibird, being shot down nearly in 90% cases when it appears and apparently having an armor made of paper. In my 300 + hours of this game, I have not seen a single vertibird that successfully unloaded their troops, provided fire support and made it back to the base.

List of enemies that I've seen take down vertibirds and kill off the entire surviving crew.

- Super Mutants ( the most common occurance, and not that strange considering they often pack miniguns and rocket launchers )

- Gunners

- Sentry bot

- Triggermen ( yes you read that right )

- Raiders ( how pathetic you must be to get shot down by raiders? )

As for my recent story, I was solving the " Synth Retention " quest with X6-88 at Libertalia when a vertibird apppeared out of nowhere at started blasting at the raiders. Within THE FIRST minute of it's appearance it suddenly started rotating and crashed into the sea, killing the scribes, but somehow the Knights survived. Too bad they were stuck at the bottom of sea and couldn't do anything tho.

Yeah. I've seen them unload troops but the bird never survives the encounter unless I help.

but, I recently downloaded a mod that turned veribirds into the beasts they're supposed to be, so it's much better now.

I took down a Vertibird and a supermutant with one shot. It was suicide mutant and when I blew his arm off, the explosion of the mininuke took out the vertibird overhead.

I wonder how does the BoS maintain such an infinite supply of these birds? I've seen a raider on chems, armed with an assault rifle take one out. These really are made of paper.

I imagine it's like how synths teleport to fight me after I blew up their womb.

Yeah the Brotherhood are absolutely atrocious vertibird pilots. Much worse than the Enclave in Fallout 3 honestly. I constantly see them getting shot down. Never see any sort of logical strafing or carpet bombing, just foolish hovering over hostiles returning fire.

Seriously its like iron confetti. I always try and find the scribes bodies for their tags

Christ I think I've taken out like thirty at this point.

With regards to NPC take-downs I'm not sure but I think it might be the pilot being killed rather than the Vertibird in some cases.
