Physics objects, and destructible enviroments in FO4.

I was thinking, and then remembered... Everyone's complaining about the graphics being sub-par, and then I rememebered... Not only is there a plethora of things going on in FO4, but what about all of those physics enabled objects, and destructable enviroments like shown in the E3 footage with the building being blown apart, and that deathclaw trampling the sandbags? I wonder how much the enviroment can be altered, and how much of it isn't just a static set piece like in games like The Witcher III? What if your settlements can actually be destroyed? Now this has me thinking... Speculaaaaaaation!

Doubt they can be destroyed. What I really want to know is if its just an illusion the damage, or does the object really change? By that I mean, they showed a building getting a hole blown into it. If you were to go up to that damage, could you jump thru the gap? If so, that sort of feature can lend itself to creating unique dungeons. Blowing holes in a wall/floor to go room to room..

If its just an illusion.. then its neat eye candy but that's about it.

Was the hole big enough to actually jump through anyway? I'd think that would be a kind of "cheat all" to get through places. Holes may be physical but not to the size we can just walk through. I'd think we could shoot through them though?

The problem with truly destructible environments in a game like this is the game has to remember the damage and the layout of the cell so you can go back and see it the same way again. It works in a shooter where the maps are done when the mission is done, and you never go back, or you do a new mission on the map. Bu in a RPG where you go back to the same cells over and over again, if you think save bloat was bad in previous games, you ain't seen nothing if it has to keep track of damage environments beyond a decal.

So, I really hope if any destruction is done to a cell, it is decal based, and not really saved.

I hope that the damage is not persistent in the wasteland, as after a while, you would have a "Mercenaries" situation. Where, by the end of the game, you are left with an entirely destroyed map, and nothing left to do or look at. Often times, I would try my damnedest to avoid destroying buildings in Mercenaries 1 and 2 on the Playsation 2, because once they were destroyed, they stayed that way. Everything was destructable, even the bridges and skyscrappers. By the time your game was finished, it looked like Fallout 3, lol.
