.ini command to change Object Detail Fade

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 10:39 pm

Ok, so I have a very simply request. Can anyone please tell me the ini command to change the Object Detail Fade option that is found in the Advanced Settings window of the Fallout 4 Launcher? I've been scouring the internet for hours looking for this particular command but their appears to be no mention of this graphical setting being adjustable via any ini file. If this command does not exist, is there any way to adjust this particular setting without using the official launcher? I really would appreciate any help with this..

Obviously you haven't seached well enough. :P

Go to your Fallout4Prefs.ini file located in: C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4

Go to the [LOD] menu, and chage the: fLODFadeOutMultObjects=X.XXXX

15 is ultra settings. !!!

So, it should look like this: fLODFadeOutMultObjects=15.0000

Tweaking these values will drastically improve your game’s visuals and you’ll be able to see distant objects without any problem. ;)

Thank you very much for your reply. Are you sure fLODFadeOutMultObjects=15.0000 refers to Object Detail Fade and not Object LOD Fade? I don't mean to be redundant, I just wanted to make certain that this command edits that particular graphical effect. http://s3.postimg.org/4waug4uvn/ODF.png

I don't believe you can modify the 'Object Detail Fade' outside of the launcher.

Hmm, on a second thought it could be that case. :P

Okay, so if you mean the Distant Object Detail level, those are some different presets you must set.

On the same Fallout4Prefs.ini file change those:

It's under the [TerrainManager]

fTreeLoadDistance= [Ultra value: 75000.0000]
fBlockMaximumDistance= [Ultra value: 250000.0000]
fBlockLevel2Distance= [Ultra value: 110000.0000]
fBlockLevel1Distance= [Ultra value: 90000.0000]
fBlockLevel0Distance= [Ultra value: 60000.0000]
