Warning!!! Stop reading now if you have no idea what the "platform" is.

So the guy at the underground railroad said to build the transportation platform at the drive in theater or "where ever" I choose to build it.

But HOW am I supposed to do that? Can it only be done at workshops?

So if I want to I can build it at my red rocket work shop? If I do is there any disadvantage? Will my red rocket shop be overrun and attacked into oblivion because I have the "platform" living there?

If that is the case I may set it up at the farm next door instead. I just do not want to have to build a settlement from scratch at the drive in to "protect" the transporter. I was told I would not have to do any of the settlement mechanics to play this game.

Until I get the offical patch to remap my PC keys I cannot build settlements (moving around is practically impossible). Even if I could I have no interest in building buildings it at this time. I did not buy this game to "minecraft".

But I do want to finish the main story so I can stop dodging all the internet spoilers for the main story. So I need to get the platform made.

When I did it I built it at Sanctuary on the foundations of one of the houses I'd scrapped. It does have to be built at a settlement (as far as I know) and all the parts should be located under 'special' in the crafting menu.

Yes its for one time use so don't put it somewhere central. It require plenty of power but you can reuse the generators later.

If you're building it via the Railroad, you'll be specifically told that it needs to be built in Hangman's Alley. It does require building via the workshop - you'll find a new category right at the start of the building list.
