Fallout 4, to Poor to Afford Editon

Post » Tue Dec 08, 2015 8:23 am

My fellow Fallout fans,

As many of you know, Fallout 4 has the traditional new release price of $60, and many of us do not have that cash simply lying around.

I am not against this price in anyway, but instead I can simply enjoy Fallout: New Vegas, and enjoy the old times of Fallout. My point is to simply see how many people have the same problem as me, and see what they have to say about this price, and their problem at hand. This is not against Bethesda in anyway, and I respect them for all of their hard work, dedication, and sense of humor in the past Fallout games. This franchise is dear to me, and I respect the creativity and thought put into this game, and i wish to make this letter to the fans as a thank you, for having New Vegas there for me in this time of need.

Please, have the courtesy to be polite, and recite favorite times in the franchise, and wait, for the time will come, when we will all be able to enjoy the game of our dreams.

Sincerely,

A Waffle

I could probably afford the game but I can't afford a PC good enough to play it on right now, and I don't own a PS4 or Xbox one, and wouldn't want to spend the money to buy one just for F4 even if I can afford to, I'm not sure how much they cost, never checked. I don't play a lot of games, I just play a few games a lot, so I don't buy games very often. Thus the expense of buying a whole new console for just one game is hard to justify to myself. I really do need to be saving money.

Get a job and you shouldn't have that problem.

I have one, but I need the money to pay for school as well as other things, and save for the future.

That is way more important than some video game. Good call on your part!

Bethesda games get better with time.

In a year or so, when the game is cheaper, the game will also have a plethora of mods to make the game even better. Patience is a virtue.

Ideas for $60. Not being sarcastic or abusive in anyway. I have been pretty tight with money before, too.

1. Get a paper route. I had one as an advlt, when I was backed into a financial corner at one point while going back to college in my 30's. You can easily make $300-$400/mo. It requires getting up early EVERY DAY. But, I could do the whole thing in about 1 hour total each day before going off to school. A little longer on Sunday, but not much. They are always looking for reliable carriers. You could do it for a very short period of time, so as to lesson the additional hardship on your already busy schedule.

2. Cancel cable TV for 2 months! (I canceled it forever, I now have another $60-$80 per month or so in my budget).

3. Winter is here where I live, shovel some walks for $10 apiece. That is cheap for a shoveled walk. Shovel 6 and you have a game!

4. If it is not winter where you live, mow some lawns for $10 apiece. That is also cheap for a mown lawn. Mow 6 and you have a game!

There are other ways, too.

I am sure you have thought of these things, but it never hurts to think outside the box, and discomfort ourselves for a short period of time for something we really want.

The paper route option is often overlooked, and doesn't really require that much of your time. If you are a single parent with young ones in the home, this may not be an option, but it is worth considering.

Best of luck!
