Less ammo in inventory than purchased : Fallout 4

When I buy 73 0.308 bullets from the weapon trader in Diamond City only 58 are added to my inventory. Is that on purpose or a bug?

Does that weapon clip have 15 bullets? Maybe it auto loads the clip.

The gun has 5 bullets and it does auto load but the inventory shows you the amount you have including the bullets inside the gun.
