Starting to become Over Powered.

Wondering what change's with the difficulty level's in the game. I've been playing on default and am starting to get to the point where anything that stands in my way does not have a chance at surviving me. Thinking its a good time to turn the difficulty up, but am also wondering how much of a difference it's really going to make. Does difficulty only tweak enemy HP? Or is there more to it than that. I know survival mode has a couple of layer's to it already. But I dont think I'm going for that level of hard as I'm trying to build up my settlements and would at the least like to have a decent amount of drop's and supplies still coming into my disposal.

Yeah, the game started getting easier for me too around 30th level. I'm not sure how leveled areas work in this game, but just in case an area gets locked to the level you are when you first discover it, I've left the northeast portion of the map unexplored so far.

Areas scale to an extent. The farther south you go, the harder it gets. Nothing locks like Oblivion.

You should be playing on Survival at level 40

How rare are supply/junk type finding's though? That's like my main thing right now.

It doesn't make anything more or less rare, it just makes healing slow and the game harder. Undoubtedly you'd be using more supplies up, though, so there'd be more of a demand there.

Like I'm pretty set on stim's, thinking I have around 200. Ammo is so so. I've been going and spending cap's on ammo every now and then. I have about 10,000 caps saved up. How fast do you think I'll start to polish off those couple of resources playing on survival, if I play decently aggressive. I've mostly been able to save so much because I've taken a keen liking to just sniping.

Just bump the difficulty up one notch and play for a day or two to see how it feels. I'm slowly ramping up the difficulty as I level up and get the perks I want.

or you could use different gear. if you aren't using pistols, than use them. if you have power or combat armor, wear leather armor. doing those should make life more difficult.

Turn it up!

I hit Lv. 18 and started finding things too easy, bumped up to hard from normal and am now not only challenged by combat again but also getting better loot. There are also more enemies in general. Definitely more lively all around.

Got a gauss rifle modded and 5/5 rifleman so I'm doing 440 damage with it. I know not of this over-powered you speak of :D

I think it just increases enemy damage and decreases yours for each level above normal...so bad guys become bullet sponges and you become swiss cheese.

I don't like bullet sponges so I just use basic gear and weapons (no power armor, fatmans, etc.) and this gives me a good balance. I also avoid using drugs and never wear a helmet.

ha wow, I haven't even found a gauss yet and I thought my double barrel doing 109 damage was good :P

Even on survival it's too easy starting lvl 35 +. I think my next playthrough will be without VATS.

Just to note...

To my knowledge: Increasing difficulty reduces the amount of damage you do, and increases the damage you take. It does not modify enemy HP.

It's the only thing I find really bad with FO4, the survival mode is easy mode.. Game is to easy. Power armor is just way OP. To much loot and chems. No challenge..

But hopefully there will be mods to change this when the mod tools get released.

I started on normal and the game was pretty rough from the start, but I've been getting stronger while fighting the same goons. I raised it to hard and I'm still finding things way too easy. That's not even taking power armor into consideration. Power armor is ridiculously op. When I want to finish a quest fast I hop in my power armor and equip my minigun. The enemies might as well be killing themselves. Then there's artillery strikes. Don't get me wrong, I love sneaking in close to a building full of raiders, tossing the smoke grenade in, walking to a safe distance, and watching the light show, but you can finish an entire quest with a single smoke grenade. I guess I need to bump up the difficulty.

I like a game where I have powerful tools at my disposal, but I should never be forced with the thought of "should I play god mode or ignore large aspects of the game".

It helps a ton. With points in Rifleman, Gun Nut, and Bloody Mess, I have a long barrel shotgun that does 165 damage. I renamed it Holy @#$% when I blew a guy's head off and sent the body flying 30 ft in one shot. Decent range too. Granted, if you're lucky in finding weapons with mods attached, you don't need Gun Nut, but it's definitely a nice convenience to have.
