Gatling Laser Always Loads Fresh Fusion Cores

Post » Thu Dec 10, 2015 11:42 pm

Here is an odd problem I encountered. If the gatling laser does not completely drain one of your fusion cores, and you either switch weapons and reloads, it will load a new fusion core rather switch back to the one it is currently using. This takes a neat stack of full fusion cores are creates a long list of partially depleted cores that clutter the players inventory. Is there any way to get this weapon to stop doing this, as it is very irritating and makes an already problematic inventory system that much more problematic.

Thanks for the help.

It is very annoying. I also wish it just used 100% of the core instead of 46% get tired of having a ton of 54% fusion cores.

It's a massive design oversight that's extremely annoying. I'm willing to bet money on this not being adressed before a mod does it. It's making me not use Gatling Lasers at all >:(

The same goes for power suits as well, if you take a half used core out then it puts a fresh one back in, I wish it would prioritize your least full cores first.

I never manually reload, but if you ever need to switch weapons it seems to switch back fully loaded.

I have mixed feelings about the gatling laser, and a different problem. Fusion cores are like batteries. They drain. I get that. But something is definitely wrong when using them as ammo for the gatling laser. It's like Bethesda designed them to behave the same way for the gun as they do for the suit! I blast through enemies with ease with it, which I love. But after a while I'll hear a beep like the suit would make when it's fusion core was depleted and my ammunition will disappear! I can't reload another core either, only way to get more ammunition in it is to unequip and equip it again. I think I'm switching guns for a while.

I read somewhere that even if you run it dry the repair bobblehead +10% ejects them with 10% left. But you can sell them for almost 100 caps and buy a fresh one for just over 300. So for 30% you can get %100. Sell the 5 and 10% ones when you sell other stuff and stick the 25-50% ones in the power armor and let them run out. I'm not trying to take them out before they run dry in PA. You can also reload with 1 shot left but if the repair bobblehead ejects them early you dont need to do that and it sounds like u dont want to. It does seem annoying.

Auto reloading weapons when you switch weapons always bothered me. Thankfully there was a few mods for NV that fixed it, think it was called "manual reload". This is just a new problem based on issues from the same old mechanics. :(

Fusion cores are nothing but energy. It can be used as energetic batteries and/or an energy beam ammo cartridge depending on the gears function. It makes sense for them to be energetically versatile
