CHARISMA: How does it help with dialogue?

This.

You can win speech checks by save/reload. Other than that, all roads lead to Rome in the dialogue tree.

In my second playthrough I definitely noticed your charisma level does make a difference for speech checks. I only had 3 charisma and found I had to reload my save a lot more to pass speech checks compared to my previous character who had 7 or 8 charisma and passed most checks with only a few reloads at the most. I raised my charisma up to 6 though for the local leader perk and I am passing more often now.

The system is kind of bull though, having a high charisma should guarantee a pass. Having to reload saves really breaks immersion.

Fallout 3 had a % based speech-system if I recall correctly. This is exactly that.
