Poltergeists moving my expletives...

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 2:17 am

So upon building my base I want to add a little bit of finesse... So I started to place items around the place... I know from previous Fallout games that items like to move on their own... But I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to stop items from falling through shelves and floors... Also being all over the floor upon my return... Some of the items I place seem to stay put...

I made a Minutemen office for Sanctuary and some these items placed stayed put... Weapons placed seem to stay so I am thinking maybe it has to do with a weight value on specific items... Has anybody managed to figure out away to keep items where you've placed them... I've seem videos of base tours and people have seemed to arranged items around their bases so there must be away...

Until a patch or an unofficial bugfix solves this, the Poltergeist will stay..

Hoping Bethesda officially patch this, it's broken for everyone and people are using gamer voodoo (as in, guesswork hope and dreams...that don't really work) in hopes of fixing it.

Nope, only thing I've found out is that weapons, nuka colas and blood packs (I think?) tend to stay put, however, it also depends on the furniture.

I honestly don't think they will patch this. :sadvaultboy:

If Skyrim is anything to go by. Seriously though, I really hope they do for ALL users this time considering how much they put into adornments.

It would be really wrong of them to expect modders to "patch" this for them...this needs a built in fix, it's an engine problem.

I remember some people mentioning that; after you place something in workshop mode, then pick up the item via the regular grab command and dropping it will prevent that from happening.

Very cool, if this works I'll probably waist time doing that too :P

I think I've discovered the solution.... maybe. Everything I put in my settlement when I very first built it has stayed where I put it. A pillow, an alien toy, a teddy bear and mr. Jangles, Pool balls, pool cue, a bunch of sporting equipment on a shelf. They all have remained intact. Everything I've tried to place after the fact gets the poltergeist treatment. Can probably be easily experimented with by going and building something in a settlement you haven't built in before.. placing some items and then seeing if they stay where you put them.
