DLC or NV?

Post » Thu Jun 17, 2010 4:55 pm

I just bought Fallout 3 about a month ago (a little late, I know...), and I just finished the main quest today. I do want to play more of Fallout 3, but with New Vegas coming out so soon, I was wondering, is it actually worth it to buy the DLC now, or should I just wait for New Vegas to come out and spend my money on that...?

And if I should buy the DLC, which ones should I get, or should I get all of them?

I would wait till New Vegas.

For DLC I would go for Point Lookout and The Pitt. They add new maps and bad guys. OA if you want a first person shooter sim. Broken Steel if you want to keep leveling to 30 and face super powerful enemies like Reaver Ghouls and fight more Enclave. Mothership Zeta if you like Aliens :banghead:

Probably should have gotten the GOTY version.

Console? If so, the DLCs are really your only choice till NV comes out.

PC? Hit of FO3Nexus.com and find some quest mods there to pass the time till NV comes out.

I didn't really put much research into the purchase before I bought the product :|...

If I did, I would've bought the PC/GOTY version...

A little off-topic, but how do you people stand using the keyboard? Or do you hook a PS3/Xbox controller to the PS3?

I guess I'll wait till New Vegas, but I'd like to hear more opinions.

I've been using the keyboard/mouse since Wolfenstein 3D or Doom. It's the crazy controller I have trouble getting used to. How do you people aim straight?

It's far easier to aim with a mouse, IMO. It allows considerably more freedom of movement and you don't need to push anything unless you want to shoot or zoom.
On keyboard, using it is little different from console controller. The buttons you are using are still all under your left hand so once you learn their places, the keyboard isn't an issue.

On the original question, I recommend getting the GOTY for PC version. That way you have so much extra content from mods and DLC that you will feel you're playing a whole new game.

I guess it's a matter of what you got used to first. Like showler, I wonder how people use those console controllers myself. They give me forearm cramps that have to be felt to be believed.

But as has been said, if your PC will run the game- go that route, with mods you've got infinite gaming potential then.
