Fatal bug in Vault 81 give blood

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 6:12 am

Hey guys I need your urgent helps since a serious bug just happened.

I went into vault 81 for the first time and then spoke with overseer, then kid gave me a tour. And then I walked into the clinic, doctor asked me to give some blood samples. I sat down on that damn chair. But then I had to deal with some affairs so I quick saved (my character was sitting on that chair).

When I loaded the save again, all I can see is a WAIT button. No matter how long I wait, there is no way to stand up from that chair, nor any conversation. Doctor is nearby and he has a green quest mark on his head but no way I can stand up and talk to him.

Terrible thing is I do not have an earlier save than that. What can I do except create another new character and restart from the scratch? Is there any console command I can use such as stand up or skip this scenario? Omg this is killing me. Pls help!

Thanks in advance

No autosaves? Are you not even making manual saves through the save menu?

You only have one save?!

There was a console command for fixing the bug that wouldn't let you walk away from terminals (which I gather was fixed in the recent patch), but I can't remember what it was. You could try that, but you'll have to Google it. Sounds like a similar problem.

I've been using quick save the whole time... And autosave has been overwrote every time I wait . So there is no turning back..

Thanks. I assume it should be Setplayeraidriven 0? I'll give that a try. And I'll also try bring The doctor to me talk to him if possible... I'm stupid to have only 1 quick save...

That was the one.

And if the quest scripting is broken, I always find giving the NPC a whack is a good initial technique for trying to get things back on the rails, haha.

My first mission with railroad with deacon had a... Similar issue. Deacon got stuck start ding in one place and would not turn the terminal on for me. It's been patched so I'm good now.

For the quest itself I think you can use the setstage (questid) command, or the resetquest (questid), but I dont know if it will resolve your stuck on chair issue.

For that, I think that player.moveto (item id or NPC) is your best bet.

Also, with only one savegame you won't go far in a Bethesda game, by the time I get to vault 81 I was around lv 25 with nearly 100 manual saves :P

I routinely create a ton of saves, and then as long as nothing terrible has happened recently, I compress them all into an archive and put them on my external drive, leaving only my most recent save on the internal SSD. You'll never know when you want to go back to an earlier save and make sure that something didn't just go terribly wrong. I keep one manual save per every 3-4 hours, since I go through and delete all the autosaves that were irrelevant. You don't play a bethesda game at launch and only use quicksave, or you're sure to have a bad time.

If you have access to the console, you can try 'enableplayercontrols'..?
