Ok so is it just me or is it obvious we weren't always

I noticed this too. My 2nd play through I purposefully wore power armor & took Preston along when meeting Danse for the first time, just to see variations in the dialog.

There is one other thing I found odd. I'd figure in Act II, the Brotherhood would continue to reclaim technology in the wastes. For instance: the 50+ suits of power armor that are (in some cases) just sitting on the side of the road. I was really expecting to get radiant quests to turn in suits of power armor.

While game wise PA is very powerful, I think having so many around is more realistic by history. Before the nukes dropped by the storyline it seems entire armies were outfitted with it. Or at least divisions. So really not surprised we're finding so much.

I didn't even need it in the Glowing Sea with my stealth character. Just wore a Hazmat suit. Just need to be very careful though, as armor is non-existent with it IIRC.

Why would they? It's their game now, has been for quite some time. And anyway, most of the people playing have probably never played 1 and 2, and probably never will.
Myself, have only used it once or twice.

Hehe, I remember when I became a knight in the BOS, they were all like "Don't get too excited now about getting in your new suit!"

Meanwhile in my head '[censored], I got a full suit of X-01... It's more advanced than every power armor suit in your [censored] arsenal, and you think I'm excited by some slightly above mediocre T-60 with an ugly, super-rusted brotherhood paintjob?'

I've seen posts that claim you get a set of PA when you join that Police Force and when you join the BOS but neither one of them offered me any armor.

I supposed I had to complete some jobs for the police before they would " like " me well enough to let me have the PA, perhaps.

I was only at the BOS site for a short period and, as I recall, just said ' yeah I'll join ' and then left to go questing and haven't been back.

I only have one spare set of T-45 armor but not worried about that.

I presume I will need better armor further along in the game.

Right now I'm only level 20.

Nothing loly about it. It's not nostalgia it's realization that it's way more fun to get something rare and to work hard to get it, instead of being handed over a powerful piece of equipment straight out of the vault. I swear some of the posters here are like children who want to eat nothing but sweets not realizing that everything you get too easy and too often feels worthless and boring after a while. Not to mention making you sick in a process.

And as you see in this particular case, such power armor abundance breaks a story somewhat.

You actually don't need any kind of protection in the glowing sea. I got out of my power armor several times to see how bad it was and was only taking 2 or 3 rads, no anti radiation armor, no rad-x, nothing.
