NCR Rangers

Post » Fri Jun 18, 2010 1:47 pm

I got the quest from the NCR Rangers to free the slaves, so I could join up. Done, but now they wont enter dialogue with me

I have good karma (defender) and not even any drugs, booz, or weapons on me

I did have slightly bad karma early on, but I think that was before I even talked to them

What gives dude?

...SNAP! I got "grave digger" on my karma. Is that all it takes to mess it up?

Yea, I would think that would do it. Factions are very picky in fallout 2, unless there hubologist then you just have to be stupid.

There is no further missions with the Rangers. Once you have the badge, tha'ts it, you're a ranger and there's no more dialogue.

(Unless.. You have the Restoration Project installed)

I do have Restoration Project installed. Am I gonna be missing anything super cool? Id have to start almost from scratch to reach a save before I dug the graves up.

Its lame cuz I already got the quest, I just cant finish it if they wont talk to me.

By the way, how do I raise my specials? Are there skill books for them? Im working on the gun slinger build (or whatever its called)

I got ST-5, EN-6, CH-6, IN-7, AG-7, LK-6 and I need to get to ST-10, PE-7, EN-4, CH-6, IN-8, AG-8, LK-8

The 'Grave Digger' rep. doesn't affect ANYTHING in game.

I think they just say thanks and thats it... Theres no reward other than the badge and some slightly different dialogue in Redding with the sherrif.

With the restoration project, I think its supposed to open a quest to hunt the slavers in some safehouses.

With your specials... There's a perk for each special. There are a chip upgrade for some of the specials, and Luck can be raised by asking for a Zeta scan from the Hubologists (note, that this is only a random chance, and could result in you losing luck). You will not be able to get your ST to 10, aint gunna happen - period. There are perks that can raise it for a specific purpose (like weapons handling gives you +2 strength for Weapon min str purposes, etc). if you find the chip, and do the perk, you'll get 7. If you mutate one of your traits into gifted (if you don't have gifted already), thats 8.

As far as SPECIAL goes... There are four memory modules to upgrade intelligence (sierra depot,) perception (mariposa,) strength (vault 08/vault city) and charisma (navarro,) the upgrades are done in the BoS SF bunker. The Zeta Scan gives -1 OR +2 luck (save before doing it.) The perks aren't a very good option since it's one per 3 levels (or 4 if you have the skilled trait.)
