I've built shops in my town for some time now I've never received any income from there how do I gain income?

Did you check your workbench? The caps generated go into there on one of the tabs (provided you have a settler assigned to the shop of course).

Which workbench do you mean the workshop where is it at in the workshop if that's what you mean?

If you go to your settlement workshop bench and hit transfer, it'll be under the Misc tab. It'll say Bottlecaps (X), with X being the number.

There is no misc tab can you go step by step?

For everybody else, who did not get it yet: Bottlecaps are under the Junk tab.

For me all caps from shops I've built - tier2 shops and tier3 emporiums - are deposited to my Misc tab.

I just checked, and you are right. That's going to make collecting my earnings a lot faster in the future.
