Sneak not working?

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 2:20 pm

Hi

I have been having a really hard time sneaking in this game. Seems I can rarely sneak anywhere. I am in sneak, moving really slow. I have the sneak perk at rank 2.

Im wearing Kellogs armor and using a hunting rifle mainly. Playing on PS4.

Anyone else having a hard time sneaking? Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

Thanks

Sneaking is a bit harder in this game than previous Fallout. I have maxed sneak + around 6 bonuses from magazines and i still sometimes get heard ( albeit rarely ). Make sure your pipboy light is turned off, and that you're not staying too close to enemies. If I remember correctly, Kellog's outfit is considered light armour so you should be fine clothing wise. Also, might wanna put a silencer on that rifle ( if it's possible, i never used the hunting rifle that much ). Otherwise I can't say more on the matter.

No. I put quite a few points into Agility and 0 in Sneak Perk. I also wears items that adds to Agility, some with Muffled and Shadowed enhancements.

It does seem to matter whether it's day or night , whether you're in the shadows or lighted areas, how far away you are, and whether the NPC have direct line of sight.

Sometime it even feels unrealistic that I can sneak while wearing Power Armor.

Yes you can, tho for balance reason (I assume) you need rank 3 gun nut to mount one, so unless ya lucky with drops, its gonna take a while.

But yeah, sneaking is far from the broken kind we seen before, AI goes into caution quite realistically if they see one of there guys die, heck if you shoot from the same general area they start to figure you out and starts blind fire and flush you out with grenades.

I like the blind fire part. I was sniping Super Mutants at night from across a river and they realized the general direction I was in and started shooting towards me.

Thanks for the replys.

I guess I have to learn how to do it in fallout 4. Gets frustrating sometimes though..

Anyone know if the damage bonus counts if you hit someone while in caution mode?

Sometimes, I think it depends on how cautious.

Just watch out for blind fire. Firing while they are cautious results in them firing towards your location. You need to fire and move. Especially if they have mininukes. Then you shoot and run like hell. I've had to literally dive off the edge of a raft because I didn't realize one of them had a Fat Man and as such didn't target him first. A little radiation poisoning was worth not being blown to hell though :D
