Fallout Cola

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 3:43 pm

I work for a Coca-Cola bottler and they found a few pallets of 20 year old glass Coke bottles from Christmas and our 100 year anniversary. We were talking about we wouldn't drink them because they might make us sick and then a guy told us that his grandchildren had got up early a few days ago and drank a bunch of them and they were fine.

The funny part is when my friend said that she would only drink them if there was a nuclear fallout and it was the only thing to drink. Made me laugh that she would say that. They are still sealed and have carbonation, she said they are still good if the seal isn't broken but I can't bring myself to drink one. Though I would share it with you fine wastelanders.

No, simply because it's coke. *winks*

I did have expired Mexican pepsi once, though. That was mildly unpalatable. :P

Target is selling bottles of Nuka Cola Quantum.

It's a clear bottle with some kind of blue drink in it.

I've thought about going and getting some but my work schedule is crazy. I may grab a few on holiday break.

Back when Fallout 3 was in development I received a bottle of Nuka-Cola. Summer 2008, I think it was. That bottle is still in my fridge, unopened. I'm not sure if I ever gonna drink it :P

They used http://www.averysoda.com/soda-cola.htm for it, which I never tasted before either.

I heard a professional chef state yeast is yeast, regarding some bread made by some crazy person using her yeast infection.

Expired, you mean? Then maybe it was just me. It tasted really flat, and the CO2 was mostly gone. Broken down into something else, probably like some of the flavoring or acids too.

depends how it's stored. I've had +20 year old cans of beer that still tasted like new, which happened to be stored in a cool basemant for decades. on the same tangent, I had a 2 year old beer that was in a hot shed that was horrible. soft drinks can't be much different in that aspect, at least canned.

bottles are a whole different thing as light can do a number on it.

I think that's why I'd drink it. Regardless of how old it is, there's so much crap in it that it probably would be the same. :P

I don't know how it would make a person sick, just seems like 20 years past the expiration date is bad. They are still fizzy and I do kind of want to try one now.

Bottling is a pretty good method of preservation. So long as it's kept in a cool, dark location the contents can last a surprisingly long time. I'd do it just because, when is the next time you'll be able to say you drank 20+ year old cola that is still good?

Ewww, not worth the risk! You might start having Rick Astley and giant shoulder pad hallucinations.
