RESPAWNING ENEMIES NEEDS RANDMIZATION! Badly...

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 3:35 pm

It's strange that Skyrim if I remember got this right..... You could clear out an area and it stay cleared out.... But you still had random encounters with enemies...

Fallout 4 respawns enemies in the exact same locations of the wasteland.... It kinda breaks the immersion. They need to add some randomisation into this world. It's feels it bit repetitive and non living because of it...

I mean every time I go to Drumlin diner, there's the same two raiders attacking it, every time .... It's doesn't feel dynamic more scripted?

Thank goodness I'm encountering more random patrols of raiders or super mutants now (perhaps because I'm lv 16 now?)

I just think the respawn timer needs to be quite a bit longer. The amount of people killing each other doesn't correspond very well to the amount of people living and farming the area.

It's the location as well ....... Just RESPAWNING enemies in the same exact location is just boring, stupid and breaks immersion...

Nope, skyrim did the exact same thing were enemies inside dungeons would respawn every couple of days or so after you cleared it out.

Think it was 30 days in cleared dungeons 10 days other places.

Some exceptions. i run into an troll in bleak fall barrow then I went into it afterward looking for linen.

One troll and it was the only enemy, scarred me a lot.

Oblivion on the other hand had 3 days who was far to short.

And it svcked. I used a mod that massively increased the respawn duration, to several ingame months

Personally, I hated it when I had cleared the area and then, for what felt like a long time, the entire area was just EMPTY. I don't mind respawns and frankly, in many cases it can make perfect sense ---- if there is a fortified raider base, for example, or some other point of interest, then it only seems logical that someone would move into that area. There are many notes on terminals in game where one raider camp will reference another raider camp and talk about making a move on their location, for example. So if you clear out a raider camp, I can easily imagine ~another~ raider group moving in to the newly-empty base.

I don't like re-spawning with the same exact enemies over and over. I think it would be better if an area re-spawned with a different set of enemies. If I clear out an area filled with Raiders, then come back later and find some Super Mutants have moved in, that is more realistic to me. And more interesting, because I would then want to go back and find out what's moved in. They could have made the re-spawns random.

Also (trying to avoid spoilers) a while back I cleared out an area full of Raiders with a named leader. Turns out this area and the leader were story related and when the quest lead me back there, it was as if I had never been there previously. And the leader magically resurrected. I'm not sure what kind of work around Bethesda could have implemented here but it did break immersion for me because I was thinking "Didn't I already kill you?"
