Radio Host Quest [No Actual Spoilers]

Post » Sat Dec 12, 2015 1:05 am

I'll be honest, despite my dislike for some directional changes with F4. I actually liked F3, don't get me wrong and FNV spoiled me I think its better than F3, but don't think F3 is terrible. That's beside the point. Actually there is only one thing I really disliked from Bethseda right now and it really rubbed me the wrong way. I have social anxiety, and I also have a few of my own mental disabilities. So when I heard the Radio Host, that would be, right there hosting a radio show.

From the drawn out explanations of songs, the awkward quippy remarks from songs. Absolutely adore the radio host. Then I saw a quest that involved said radio host. Long story short you can fix him.

Do you know how much that bruises a bit? Here's a character that I like, I found it unique and clever to do a radio host like this, instead of a radio host like Three Dog [I love Three Dog] or New Vegas. You almost have this amateur at it, being a blundering, nervous wreck. And heck with the world out there the way it is, I don't blame him.

To fix him implies there was something wrong in the first place. This is actually the only major thing that I disapprove of in this game.

Maybe you can skip the quest and leave him how he is. I met the host you are talking about, but can his quest to fix him be passed up?

I have pretty terrible social anxiety as well, and you don't think there's something wrong? I do... Helping Travis made me feel better about myself. And don't think of it as, "fixing." It's more like "helping."

I did my first playthough for about 60 hours without even knowing there was a quest for him.

Didn't even find it till my second playthrough.

That's what I wonder. Because in Skyrim and even here, Bethseda seems to have forgotten if you give the player the "No" option. A quest shouldn't be put in my data at all, if my character says no or declines. It would have been nicer to have actually used my Charisma skill or something and tell him, "Son you're fine the way you are..." and some other choice words. Bethseda has gone down the direction they went with Skyrim, No doesn't mean No and you cannot refuse quest. Your actual skills are completely useless because Voice Acted character oh boy because other people cannot use their imagination and give their characters their own voices, nor put themselves through the eyes of their character unless a character forces them to do so. Blargh

It can be. I beat the game without even knowing about it.

It's not about the anxiety being a problem. It's about how it affects his personality and changes him.

I am still anxious, nowhere near as bad as I was. But I almost not a smooth talking sauve person either. It should be okay to be anxious and confidently anxious

Spoiler
I think your identifying to much with this character, he didn't need "fixing" he needed self confidence.

Anxiety, actual anxiety is a problem, and it is not okay. This coming from someone who has dealt with it, and even though I've overcome bulk of the problem, it's just like any other self-inflicted disorder - alcoholism, addiction, bulemia etc. You have flare ups, relapses and what have you.

Being socially awkward or lacking confidence is a different matter - thats a personality trait. And if you are really okay with being socially awkward and introverted that is OK. However, if you secretly wish you weren't, then it is something you should consider working on.
