Thinking about starting a character with 4's in SPECIAL

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 11:10 pm

Wondering if anyone has done this.

Going to strongly RP this character and want her to start out as completely average in every way and learn skills as she goes along.

A bit tired of my super-smart, super-charismatic, super-perceptive girl who's also lucky.

Is it even possible to start out completely average?

It all depends on your difficulty setting I surmise . If you don't fancy relying on VATS but doing your killing by hand, an average person should be just fine. 4 in the attributes still gives you gun-nut, hacking, lockpicking and armor crafting. Everything you need :)

I did that for my first character. It wasn't too bad. I kept adding special points up to around level 12 then started picking different perks.

Cool! Thank you. I think I'll give it a shot.

It's a perfectly solid build. You have access to most Crafting perks, both Locksmith and Hacking, and most of the weapon perks, as well. This means that you pretty much have the core of any build you like. It's a solid choice. Not what I'd do (Strong Back and Local Leader are now must-have perks for me), but certainly a good, solid start that you can do whatever you want with.

That's how I'm doing it currently. I'm lvl 17 (not a ton I play time these days). I've had to put a few special points at level up into INT, PER, and AGI.

Yep. Especially if you want to begin the game just working on your settlement and exploring the local area searching for materials.

That is exactly how my current fella is. My first had 8 in intelligence and was levelling too quickly.

I started with 4's across the board this time.

For RP purposes I always start Strength, Endurance, and Agility in 1 and play it as the SS is physically atrophied after 200 years of cryo stasis and builds himself back up as time goes on.

My 1st & so far only toon started this way it felt like a jack of all trades master of none at 1st but seemed to flesh out fairly quickly as I didn't need to sink countless points into any given special to open up a perk I wanted also helped out hauling loot back to base
