Do melee and unarmed count as silenced weapons?

As the title says, just wondering if either of the two count as slienced for the Mr Sandman perk? Would seem odd if they do not as the player uses a knife to kill the sleeping NPC in the animation for it which is classed as a melee weapon.

One cannot silence something that is inherently silent.

What I mean is, the perk applies to weapons the player has made silent by attaching a suppressor to, from what I gather. Whereas melee and unarmed weapons don't go through the process of being silenced because they usually already are, save for the ripper.

You'd be right if they said "silent weapons" instead of "silenced". :P

So let me get this straight.. Silent weapons don't count for Mr Sandman as they cannot be silenced because they are already silent?
