dialogue- wish I could get more info, AND then respond

So I have seen a lot of people voice various complaints about the dialogue system, but overall I am fairly satisfied with it, and have few complaints. EXCEPT...

I am one of those players who likes to choose the "huh???" option a lot, mostly because that usually results in some explanation of the lore, context, or character background. It helps me understand a fuller picture of what is going on and make a decision about how to respond. But, in this game, once you choose the "Huh???" option and get the background, the conversation almost always just progresses to the next NPC dialog and next conversation prompt, without giving me the opportunity to choose a response to the initial prompt. So often I either feel jipped in conversation because I have lots of background info but haven't been able to voice any opinions or make any decisions, or I have to skip over some background/lore info just so that I can disagree, agree, or be sarcastic.

I wish there were more times when the NPCs would say "oh, here's an explanation of X...so now what do you think?" instead of skipping over my ability to respond. It happens occasionally, but not nearly often enough for me. Since the other dialog options are already recorded, and they wouldn't necessarily need to change the responses dependent upon whether or not the "huh???" option had previously been selected (usually if you skip it the character responds as if they are already familiar with the background info), it doesn't seem like it would make extra work for them to program the dialog choices to happen that way.

Otherwise, I really don't mind the dialog diamond too much, or the limited knowledge of what exactly your character would say before they say it. The only other thing I do sometimes miss is the ability to respond slightly differently depending on your character's special stats (aside from charisma) in certain situations where it might make sense. But it's not a deal-breaker for me, I still mostly enjoy the dialogue, and I DEFINITELY enjoy the whole game!
