Stealth + luck + pistol = op

Post » Sat Dec 12, 2015 6:24 pm

I tried many builds but found this one as the most op. Nothing can get close to you. It is survival. Just keep on vats fire. With pistols. Decent range. Decent ROF.

Str 1

Per 9
En 1
Chr 1
Ag 7
Int 1
Luck 9

Idiot savant x2 for xp gain

High luck for criticals, vats recharge, ammo find.

Undetectable and op. Deleting this char due to it removes all fun from game.

Why pistols? I find that an upgraded, silenced assault rifle or combat rifle works far better than even the best named pistols.

It must be a nightmare testing all these permutations.

Agreed. My silenced .308 combat rifle clears as many enemies as I can target in VATS, one shotting them all and it has better range than a pistol. That's with max Stealth, Rifleman, Sneak, Ninja, Sniper and Bloody Mess mind you. I always forget critical even exist so I never use it.

Pistols work better with vats and luck perks i think due to incredible amount of rate of fire in vats.. even when you get %10 hit chance with a pistol u can make it %95 in couple of shots with concentrated fire which is an op perk. Plus you get more crits plus the disarm.

I did something similar with my Doctor Venture build, except with more Int. Luck is a real killer in this game, isn't it?

My combat rifle gets off 7 or 8 shots in VATS. With Sniper, a scope and high Perception targets are 95% head to toe (when not obscured obviously). No point in concentrated fire when everything dies in one shot.

Isn't the real issue that high luck is op?

First off, not exactly that simple- you also need your gunner perk maxed, lightweight armor as well. Second, specifically the Deliverer really kicks things into overdrive.

All that said, what you call OP I call fun.

Not to mention, with that kind of character build on Survival you actually have to use stealth well, which is not that easy.

Just wait for updates and dlc- they'll offer more difficulty for you.

I'll just keep having a blast in the mean time.

But what level were you when that became viable?

If you Rush to Deliverer or mod Rtious Authority into a pistol, you can be doing that many or more shots in VATS and 1-2 shot killing pretty much anything before level 10.

You can get there with rifles, and eventually they're probably more powerful, but it's easier to level doing it with pistols (use criticals to dig out enemies with cover, and recharge on the ones that are easy hits).

Valid point. I didn't specifically build this way from the start but if you did it probably wouldn't be completely OP till late 20s or early 30s. I'd have to look at the perk chart and map it out.

For me, I've always loved pistols in every action game. I was a pistoleer in Star Wars Galaxies, I used pistol in FO3, and I use pistol here in FO4. I love pistols!

Well, the Luck PERKS are OP if you are focusing on a VATS build.

Luck of the Irish, Grim Reaper's Sprint, Better Criticals, and Critical Banker are a combo that will make you a VATS GOD. Combine it with the Ninja perk, and Gun Fu from Agility, and a Stealth focused character, and the synergy builds to crazy levels.

If you are using a pistol and the perks I mentioned, you can basically fire forever, for free, in VATS, and pop off critical hits at-will, and Luck of the Irish is going to replenish your criticals while you go. Grim Reaper's Sprint will keep you swimming in AP as you pop insta-death criticals.

I like it ... but to each his own. :goodjob:

I'm not a stealth player but the Deliverer seems like the best choice.

The Deliverer can score so many hits in VATS the game can't even properly update the AP counter. :disguise: Plus it increases you percentage chance to hit in VATS. And it uses a common 10mm ammo type.

for me it's VATS that make pistols + luck powerful (in fact I think over half the luck perks are VATS related) without using VATS a lot it's not nearly as good, and yeah, the Deliverer is the gun that makes it really powerful due to the very low AP cost.

In this game, even luck is OP.
Im running a max luck build and im finding x-cell and fusion cores in trashcans sometimes.. I mean, i dont even run stealth and with a 10MM pistol i can kill swan in a few headshots and a critical..

ha it seems my assessment was spot on then...sounds too overpowered when going stealth VATS. I use it for run and gun style without VATS and it holds up well enough.

Haven't tried pistols but by the looks of it, a scopeless sniper has far better damage, range and accuracy stats and that justifies the more AP cost (for me at least), for example I still go 6 shots left in vats with snipers. Adding scopes just kills vats, only 2-3 shots.

Kellogg's pistol is also a great with a luck build. Pretty much infinite AP with critical banker and four leaf clover.

The buff on kelloggs pistol is just relentless which you may get on any legendary item. It combines poorly with stealth though because the 44 revolver doesn't get a silencer like the other guns including the automatic combat shotgun do.
