Idea for Immersion

I had an idea for an immersion... thing. First off, I'm one of those guys. I don't like fast traveling. I never did in Oblivion, Fallout 3, or Skyrim. However, it seems that Fallout 4 doesn't give you much of a choice, with settlements being attacked and all. If you get the notification that one of your settlements is under attack, you have to fast travel to defend it, otherwise it gets destroyed. Hence the idea: for more immersion-focused non-fast travelers like myself, I think there should be either be a mod or a solution implemented.

1. Solution = Bethesda should make it so that settlements can defend themselves while you're away. I mean, what's the point of putting in all of the turrets and fences if they don't do anything to stop your settlements from being annihilated?

2. Mod = there should be some sort of mod that substitutes the standard fast travel mechanic with the use of a teleporter, like the one the institute uses. Just to make fast traveling more immersive for the immersion-nutbars such as myself.

Thoughts?

They can solve it yourself, I had several occasions of the help quests resolve themselves.

Another idea is for a mod is to have it so the Minutemen will either successfully or unsuccessfully defend a settlement, depending on chance, attackers, and strength of the Minutemen faction at the time.

I don't like using FT, but due to time constraints I have to use it or I'd never finish the game. Once I've done all my basic play-through's and seen the endings and such I'll play my 'real' character and won't be using it as I'll expect that character to have hundreds of hours of playtime anyway. But for right now I use it as I'm playing to see scenes more than to role-play.
