Anyone able eliminate all scope sway?

Post » Sat Dec 12, 2015 9:57 am

Have both arms modified with Stabilized, and Sniper perk maxed. Agility and Perception are both over 10 if that matters.

Kneeling, and using .50 sniper with marksman stock, or combat rifle sniper with either marksman or recoil stock - I still have a small amount of sway when viewing through scope. Pistol 10mm scope have bit more sway. Neither are huge, default sway but still hardly sniper quality control.

The odd thing is when I had only 1 point into Sniper, the sway was almost eliminated. But when I added to 3 points, my small sway was back. I can replicate this by using console command to take away 2 points and go back to 1 point only into Sniper. That seems to give me that 1st level buff of more scope control, but when more points are added back on - the sway comes back.

Seems like that first perk is bugged in that it is not additive to later upgrades.

But either way - has anyone found way to completely zero out scope sway when kneeling using rifles or pistols with scopes?

I meant as in aside from holding breath. Why? Because with 2 arm stabilizer and only 1 point in sniper perk - all sway is eliminated using kneeling position with scoped rifles using marksman or better stocks.

I want and use the knockdown perk on sniper though so going back to 1 point isn't an option. However, it clearly shows it is possible. So I was asking if there were perhaps game items that add more stabilized, or items that add more control, or perk I didnt know about that reduces more scope sway

Are you saying that when you take the second point in Sniper perk you lose the benefits of the first point?!

Yes. I noticed this when progressing normally - e.g. never had sniper perk, added 1 point to get first rank - with above mentioned kneel + arm stabilizers, eliminated all scope sway. Cool I thought. Then added later 2nd point and eventually 3rd point and had sway back. Wondered why when I had played many hours with no sway.

Then to test my suspicion, I used console command player.removeperk to take out the 3rd point in sniper - no change, still sway. Took out 2nd point - now I'm back to rock solid no sway.

Use player.addperk to add back 2nd point into Sniper perk, and voila - sway is back.

Could just be my game is bugged or this is overall bug - either way, for me, 100% consistent in this character or any new character I create, taking additional points in sniper eliminates the 1st point benefit.

Yes

The first sniper perk along with stability mods on my arm pieces has eliminated any sway from scoped weapons (without holding breath).

This should be reposted in the bug section also to let Bethesda know ASAP as it has the potential to pee off a lot of players including myself who was just about to put the second point into it but went with Armorer instead.. Phew.

Just tested it in my game. One point reduces sway. Adding the second and even the third point does not change that for me. (Nor should it.)

Breath holding allows me to select the ear at very long ranges. I can't imagine anything better.

No points into anything VATS related, ever. ;)
