Is there a way to uninstall and reinstall F04 keeping saves?

Can I uninstall and reinstall fallout 4 while keeping all of my saves? If so, how do I do it?

There's an issue where every time I fast travel, in the middle of the loading screen the game just crashes and I get sent to the desktop screen.

This still occurs with all mods disabled (and later uninstalled). The new patch from bethesda a few days ago seems to have messed up my mods which in turn messed up my game. I'm hoping I can just uninstall and reinstall without losing data, at which point, I'll just have to wait for GECK before I can install mods and be ensured that bethesda won't [censored] them up.

I haven't tried it with FO4 specifically, but most modern games won't delete saves by default, or will at least ask "do you want to keep saves yes/no".

If on PC you can just copy the saves elsewhere, reinstall, then copy the saves back to the save folder again.

Btw, patches almost always cause (some) mods to break. It's the nature of modding and patches. Even if you use the GECK itself, mods often have to be updated.

Your saves might not like that you uninstalled mods in the middle of them - the update didn't "break" anything, you just have to re-enable them and change the ini a bit so that the launcher doesn't disable them on startup any more. There are lots of tutorials and really easy ways to do this.

But anyway, saves are stored separately from the base game so you can just reinstall without worry. If you want to be extra cautious, look inside My Documents/My Games/Fallout 4 and you'll find your saves there. Back it up back it up

I figured I'd just be able to copy the saves somewhere else. I just wanted to make sure there was nothing special here that I had to do.

Nah, I made a special save, with everything back at default and with all mods disabled. It's a perfectly normal save that I can refer to.
