Now here I am, literally the highest BOS rank below Elder, and this guy is mouthing off to me. Which means, if I want to maintain some semblance of immersion, I simply can't do his quests.

Never played a Bethesda game before? Even when it wasn't voiced, this was always the single most annoying nuisance in every game they made. You could rise to the top of any organisation or guild and your underlings still treated and greeted you as if you were the new stablehand.

Same with Scribe Haylen ... She was flaming mad at me but after that she's all smiles and friendly handing me quests

It's mostly those two though. Everyone else acknowledges you as sentinel.
