Medium size world......

Ok so I have put in about 110 hours in this game and I have completed and cleared about 90% of the world map?!?!?!

It'll probably take me another 20 to 30 hours to completely clear the entire game world areas, this seems more like a medium size game to me when it comes to open worlds in 2015..........................if I am really generous and roam about the world aimlessly it'll take me about 150 hours, at tops, to clear the entire game.

(However, in comparison, I put in about 240 hours in Witcher 3 and I still have about 45% of the game world unexplored......)

I went with Minutemen I don't know if their quests are shorter or what............ but I doubt that if I went with another faction, the game would be any longer by a noticeable difference. I do admit that I didn't spend a terribly long time building all the settlements but I did spend a decent time looking after my settlements and doing their quests. I am level 53 at the moment.

I was expecting a large game that'll give me at least 200+ hours gameplay, especially from all the talk and videos that I have been watching online, but sadly my adventure will be over in probably another 20 hours or so........

So I am wondering why are people calling it a massive game, when it is really a medium size open world game with a relatively shorter main story. (If I didn't do all the side quests and just strictly focused on the main quest, as everyone should since its your CHILD who is on the line, it would have taken me about 20 to 30 hours to beat the game). So I have no idea what all this noise is about......

P.S. I admit that straying from the main quest and doing all these side quests and exploring all these side areas did feel VERY AWKWARD, since I am supposed to be rescuing my new born baby but instead I am growing potatoes?!?! Every time I focused on a side quest or strayed of the main path it felt like I am betraying my child but if I didn't then the game would be over for me in less than 30 hours....

It's a massive game once you commit to settlement building. Beth has included a bit of their development tool and allowed players to develop many many towns. That can take 200 hours all by itself. I don't know if I would qualify that as satisfactory game-hours, but it is game-hours never-the less.

Here's the thing about world/map size... would you prefer a more believable map where things are more spaced out or do you like this kind of compressed world more? I think it's clear most fans of BGS games prefer compressed worlds :)

you can rush through every open world game and state that it took you less than 100 hours...

if you really take your time, Fallout 4 is way bigger than Skyrim and Witcher 3 are

I have never played any videogame for more than 80 hours up until Fallout 4...

So... I can't say I have any idea what you are talking about.

It sure doesn't feel bigger than Skyrim, at least to me.

Skyrim's world size feels bigger

but the amount of locations, interiors and just play time surpasses Skyrim by far in my opinion :o

after all, all this games are huge ^^

90% of the games today don't even offer 10 hours of playtime

I've 'only' spent 80 hours with Fallout 3 and I still see it as a huge game, that has tons of content

Didn't you read my post? I didn't rush through, I am clearing out the entire content........if i rushed through main quest it would be over in only 20 to 30 hours

And you are misinformed sir, Fallout 4 game world is much smaller than Witcher 3, that's a fact........but I don't want this topic to become Witcher 3 vs Fallout 4 ...... I want to talk about Fallout 4 on the basis of what Fallout 4 offers....

Yes if I spent a terribly long time designing settlements and going full minecraft mode then ofcourse it could have taken me a long time, but I still spent a decent time looking after my settlements and still managed to clear about 90% of the game world in 110 hours.....so that tells me that the game world is more or less a medium size world. If there was no settlement building and the game time was purely based on game world exploration then I would have cleared the entire game (side quests and side areas included) in about 80 to 100 hours........which is still a good amount of game time but it definitely cannot be termed as the largest open game world ever as many are claiming across the web.........

I'm at 108 hours right now in my first playthrough... haven't done too much on settlements and still haven't seen anything on the south of the map and hardly anything in Boston °_°

I don't think there is any way I can finish it within 250 hours

I really don't see how you can clear the world within 100 hours without rushing, even without the settlements
