bottle cap glitch

Post » Tue Dec 15, 2015 12:31 pm

so as console users (xbox one ect) we can use a glitch to gain only bottle caps to reduce the grind on the console version

pc users can just use console commands to get as many bottle caps and resources as they like.

the glitch gets patched and we console users cant get caps anywhere near as easy.

pc users can use console commands and can still get as many bottle caps and resources as they like.

how is this fair to console users, the bottle cap glitch did not affect anyone else due to it being a single player game.

if your going to get rid of glitches you should make the game so console commands can't be used either on pc.

Your absolutely right. After that patch version 1.02 changed things. But personally I like the challenge but talking about fairness. Definitely not fair.

The console is not there to cheat. It is a way to access commands used in the game engine. It is there so developers can debug and stuff. Most users have no need to access the console but mod developers and people who want to help them can use the console to make it much easier.

As you pointed out, the cap glitch didn't affect others, but then why are you demanding they remove something from another persons game? Isn't that a bit hypocritical?

your probably a pc user and i'm betting you use or have used the console commands aswell.

you have things like god mode

gain caps and resources

compleate and reset quests

companion afinity level

likely have xp gain commands

gain perk commands

gain any item you want

and that is just a few of the commands that can be used.

so how is it being Hypocritical to want console commands removed from the use of pc users when console users don't have them?

Just because it's there doesn't mean we use it. This may surprise you, but there Are those of us out here that don't slap in every cheat we can, or even at all.

If you're on console and want infinite caps, do what I do on the pc: limit yourself to 4 weapons, hoard ammo for those, sell everything else, and sell your drugs. Game is easy enough that drugs are unnecessary, and new perk system means it's pointless to use anything but the occasional buffout. Got up to 100k caps just selling drugs and ammo at every vendor I see.

That's even more ridiculous. I stopped playing my first character at level 70something, and 50 of those levels were from working on settlements till my gf could watch me play the more exciting parts. They give exp out like candy this time around.

I am a pc user yes. And no, I do not use console commands. I can't prove this to you, nor do I feel the need to. I think I have used tcl twice, because I got stuck in terrain.

It was hypocritical because you pointed out how you using the cap glitch didn't affect anybody, yet you are demanding they remove console commands that don't affect you.

the fact is pc users that use console commands can do in a couple of minutes what would have taken hours or days to do on consoles and in some cases are impossible to do, so why should pc users get to use console commands if they want to cheat.

i never sell ammo because it weighs nothing and i could still use other weapons that i find if i have to.

and yes i usually limit myself to around 3 guns and 1 meele weapon:

for resources for building my town was what i used the glitch for to speed up builds (i spend a lot of time building my settlements up), but now that glitch has been patched out it leaves it tough to get resources.

The console command is there for an entirely different reason, it can just also be used to cheat. Removing it would massively hinder mod development which would run the longevity of the game. It is a choice the game developers made. It wasn't an intentional or personal attack on console users.

Why do you care that other people use the console to cheat anyway?

I don't care what PC users do, I think the point is, what harm was the cap glitch? Just seemed like more of a punishment for console players. Not everyone was using the glitch just like not everyone uses console commands on PC.

They tend to patch money exploits.
The water purificators work just as well, 1600 caps/day in sanctuary with 10 purifiers. Store in other container and take then you go shopping

It was a glitch, game not working as designed. Just because it was a convenient and beneficial glitch, doesn't mean it wasn't a glitch. The economy of fallout is there for a reason, the money glitch made that irrelevent. If there was a glitch to make everyone non hostile, or a glitch to make you invulnerable, they would patch that too. It is not trying to punish you, it is trying to fix something that was broken. Remember, it was unintentional in the first place.

Sorry to say this but talking about how unfair console commands are because a bug got fixed is really childish in a non-competive singleplayer game with heavy mod support. Everyone plays for how he or she wants to and bugs need to be fixes.

Besides once mods support rolls in there will be "cheat"-mods so you can cheat as well.

Lol, just play the game?

I never even consider using cheats for money or stuff like god mode in games like this.

Just play on an easier difficulty if it's too hard for you to get caps.

I play on survival, cheating would totally make a mockery out of my difficulty choice, might as well play on easiest which is not even cheating.

I used the dupe/dogmeat glitch to dupe technical documents. Every 2K documents is 50K caps. Unless you've burned your bridge with the BoS I've found this to be the fastest "cap glitch" available after patch.

What irritates me more is the fact that they spent the time to fix something like that (even though it probably doesn't take a ton of time) versus spending that time to fix actual "game/quest breaking" issues.

With 5mm, .50 and .38 ammo raining from the skies in such a quantities that could never be used you're whining about a cap glitch that got fixed?

Seriously, just get two ranks of scrounger and never worry about caps again.

I explained why they do that before. Some bugs can take minutes to find and fix, others can take weeks. And they would rather get the easy bug fixes out of the way first and then focus on the harder ones. Spend 5 minutes getting rid of a glitch that exists in every single players game, or spend 3 days hunting down some quest bugs that are affecting a tiny percentage of the playerbase?

I see your point. If it was my game though, I would use up every spare second of manpower to get the bugs fixed that are actually ruining the game. My priorities would be to put those glitches, that people actually have to purposely do in order to achieve (I.e. Cap glitch), to the side and focus on the much more important bugs that are negatively effecting people's game progress. The cap glitch is something you (most likely) would need to look up, then do it in an exact process. It's a choice you can, or cannot choose if you'd like. On the other hand, I have no choice that my entire Castle settlement is bugged out, and I can no longer utilize certain Minutmen quests, or artillery strikes.
