Vault Tech Guy. won't run store.

Post » Tue Dec 15, 2015 11:30 am

Title really says it. Have a lvl 3 trading store. 18 population, and I try to assign him to the store but nothing happens. I dont get the assigned response, the pip boy icon stays red

I assign a settler and no problem, they walk right over so don't see a pathing issue. Everything I've read says population is not a factor..is there some conversation key that I'm missing?

The Vault Tec guy just runs a supply line for me. Never tried assigning him to a store. Just send him out on the road and use another settler to run the store for you. :)

I don't want to do that since he's a lvl 4 merchant. Rather get his wrinkled butt into the store.

He's buggy. I have him as an arms dealer also, but I have to listen to all the original dialogue EVERY TIME before I can finally barter with him. If I hear about his set of steak knives one more dam time.....

He seems kind of buggy. Before I realized, he's a level 4 merchant, I tried to assign him to a cannon. Didn't do it. The assigned message briefly went yellow, but turned to red again. Assigning him to a general store wasn't a problem at all. At one time I had him run a supply line also - before I knew about his faculties.

I have him as a clothing dealer and he mans the booth just fine, but having to listen to that conversation every time is annoying. The way I deal with it is to start the conversation, then go shop with one of my other merchants. I come back and continue the conversation, and then go shop with another merchant. Finally, I can come back to him and go right into his shop inventory. I'm sure there will be a mod for it eventually.

There's that Sheffield guy, who can be recruited also. You have to go through the first timer dialogue motions also, every time you want to trade gear with him. Don't know if he serves a special purpose or if he's just an ordinary guy after being recruited.

He'll only be a "level 4" merchant with the General Trader store as far as I'm aware, to clear that up. Even then, it only seems to me that he sells one legendary item (one Apocalypse Greave) and maybe has a few more useful pieces of junk, so he's not especially useful.

And I concur on the general bugginess. I've been able to get him to go to the store with both of my characters so far and he'll sell things, but initiating the "barter" dialogue is a pain. No matter how many times I've talked to him, he always starts his "Since we talked..." dialogue, and after that, my character starts the "Do you want a job..." dialogue. After that, I can trade with him, but it's an annoying pain to get there.
