There is a discussion on the Steam forums regarding a particular crash. I don't see a topic here so I making this post.

As soon as Sanctuary starts to load in, the game crashes. Fast traveling there causes the crash and so does walking. I have tried countless things to resolve the issue but have had zero luck. I've tried entering with and with out a follower. I've dumped my inventory, tried entering Sanctuary from different locations on foot and FT. Tried running the game on Low with all of the sliders on low and much much more with no luck. My Ugrids are still at 5 so I know that's not the issue. Besides Ugrids at 19 is even safe now. I am far into the game, have a lot of modded and legendary items, farms and other well fortified areas, bobble heads, mags and all sorts of stuff.. So I either wait for a patch which doesn't sit well with me considering how long it took the devs "mostly modders" to get Skyrim stable. Or start a new save and hope it doesn't happen again. I had a bad feeling the moment I seen all of the familiar menus, code,, ini files, same recycled engine etc... Sigh.. OK back on track. I don't want to turn this into a complain thread "it doesn't help anything". I just want to report the problem.

I have the exact same problem but around the Mass Bay medical centerMas Bay medical center , I can't fast travel and even if I don't I crash if I try to "escape", the weird thing is that I can still enter the buildings and kill enemies, It's been 5 days and I can't play the game anymore.... I hope Bethesda do something soon.

I've just started experiencing this.... does anyone know of a fix yet? I'm lvl 65 with 124+ hours played and don't fancy starting from scratch again. Bad thing is stupid Preston Garvey is at my Sanctuary and I need to talk to him to hand some quests in and now I can't. The moment I fast travel to, or walk anywhere near Sanctuary my game crashes to desktop. I even went to Red Rocket Truck Stop, and was far enough away that I wasn't crashing, I then took out a gun with a long range scope on, looked through it towards Sanctuary, BAM! Back to desktop again. I don't know what the crap is causing this. I do not use mods. Only thing I've done is use a console command to get 100,000 carry weight. I just dumped all my stuff in the Home at Diamond City for now though and am down to about 719 carry weight. Still crashes, so it can't be that.

Maybe questline has something to do with it? I just did "The Nuclear Option" and "A New Dawn" if it's connected in any way. People on Steam have suggested it might be a certain colour paint on the power armor, and me and my companion (Maccready) were both wearing a set so I made us both leave the power armor at Abernathy Farm for now but still crashed so not that either. I'm at wits end trying to get to Sanctuary, at least so I can make Preston go somewhere else lol... does anyone know the console command so I can respawn him somewhere else?

corrupt save game? did this just start happening after patch?

You probably have some kind of issue with mods, or an issue with your mods and the new patch.

Have you tried updating your mods recently? Maybe do that.

Also try starting a new game with mods disabled (I would completely uninstall them, not just disable them) and see if the problem persists. If not, try enabling mods one at a time to see which one is causing the issue.

Same engine as skyrim, sometimes the entire cell gets corrupted and there is nothing you can do. Basically means you will have to restart with a brand new character. before that try to verify the files on your pc via steam, hopefully it can fix this for you.

I already tried the verify files through Steam, it didn't change anything. Still crashed. So far all I've done is go back to an old save where it wasn't crashing, which only lost me 3 levels and about 4 hours of play time, and I made Preston leave and go somewhere else and literally took apart the whole of Sanctuary. All the building I had done I scrapped. Now I am going to keep away from that cursed place.

Just remember to keep making NEW manual saves along the way. DOn't rely on quick and auto save alone.
