FPS drops are TERRIBLE

Post » Wed Dec 16, 2015 11:11 am

I have a 290x OC'd and theres places where it dips below 15 FPS. Are you #%^$ing kidding me ? I quicksave. Turn everything down to the lowest settings. Go back in and see a 3 fps gain. That's such a joke. I've also tried tweaking the .INI in every thinkable way. Tried mods. Tried the beta versions. Nothing has worked. I'm trying to get a refund from steam.

The game is just poorly optimized, this is a common issue. Hopefully bethesda will address.

Umm, if you aren't going to help, don't post. Go play Battlefront or something.

Uh, are you helping? When he posts his dxdiag, what are you going to say when everything is fine?

That's how these threads end up. People complain(like me) and then we get a "post a dxdiag" I guess its noble to request the report but really this game has performance issues.

I'm not going to lie and say I'll immediately know the problem, but no one can diagnose a computer problem without adequate information. The excuse that 'the game has performance issues' is stupid. Most people play without major issues and a lot of issues are user error.

Complaining on a forum helps no one, absolutely no one.

User error? I know what i'm doing lol...I'm not new to computers. I have multiple people complaining about the same exact fps drops in the same exact locations.

We have resolved some issues with the information provided in the dxdiag.exe reports. Also those reports make it easier for the support team to see if there is a trend with problems and see if it might be related to a certain hardware or software. Some issues might be related to a location but some of it might also be tied into hardware and software as well.

Not everything we can resolve but the more information for the support team the easier it is for them to fix the problem.

Did I state that your issue was user error? Hell, I wasn't even quoting you. Stop spamming the thread.

OP please post your dxdiag report. Like previously said we've been able to help lots of people nail their issues. Of course some people haven't, but those legitimate cases are very few.

We can't promise anything but at least with the report, we can try to iron out a few things. Alot of us have relatively bug-free or no performance issue.

I have an idea. Is it possible to have a sticky thread that list out all the steps to troubleshoot hardware issue? Example, install latest or previous driver, from dxdiag report, check paging, C drive space, things that crashes ,etc.

Hello,

I had similar problems, which started few days ago. Last night I found out something rather interesting.

My GPU clock speed was reaching only half of its potential. Afterburner and GPU-Z both showed only 560 MHz core speed, when it should have been around 1100 MHz under load. I had done several reboots but only played Fallout 4 and the problem persisted.

After my last reboot I ran a few benchmarks first and clock speeds were normal and Fallout 4 run like a charm again, steady 60 fps pretty much everywhere.

I have no idea what I actually did, if anything and if it's even possible for Fallout to limit GPU clock speed. Hope this helps, even for a little!

We likely will have one at some point with the common fixes and such.
