Most annoying thing.Minor Minor Superminor Spoilers

Post » Wed Dec 16, 2015 4:13 am

Not being able to refuse quests! You hear the slightest hint of something and BANG a quest gets added to you journal. It's not so bad when it is a miscellaneous quest. But when it gets smashed on top of your quest log it gets annoying.

Specifically radiant faction quests. Why wouldn't Preston or the railroad just ASK if I wanted to another quest (Identical to the one I just turned in) before loading me with quest items i never asked for?

Like when you turn in one of the MILA quests and you get a new quest at the same time as you get your reward? What?

+400 xp

200 caps added

MILA added

whait what? Never asked for that!

I just decided to leave a faction to their own business because they seemed like a bunch of kids playing hide and seek and I get a quest of theirs added to the top of my to-do-list?

WHAT THE HELL.

And don't even get me started on Preston.Just don't.

You know you can just... Not do the quest. Just because it's in your pipboy doesn't mean you're being forced to complete it.

Also, there are tons of quests that you get verbally from npcs that you can refuse to do. So...

By the way, I'm pretty sure quest items weigh nothing, so, once again, you're not forced to complete a quest.

Most repeatable quests you can turn down and accept a later time. The only exception I think is Preston's stupid missions.

Random City Guard:"They say if you listen to a Ghoul fart at night, you can hear tiny atom bombs going off"

Quest log Updated- Listen to a Ghoul fart.

Some of us like having a clean quest log, not cluttered with quests we're never gonna do.

Tinker tom's quests are also not refuse-able.

Also how hard would it be to add a Borderlands like feature:Archive quests.

Move quests you won't do to a separated section.Like your pc trashbin. They are removed from sight, but can be restored if you want to.

Also,MOD thanks for moving to more appropriate section. My bad.

I'd be ok with the forced quests if we had an option to abandon them or even just move them to an inactive section so they aren't cluttering up the actual quest log.

I don't really dislike radiant quests, they feel like actual jobs rather than adventures and I'm fine with that. But I'd really like to be able to say NOT NOW more often.

Well you're not the only one playing the game. They can't cater to everyone.

Some people (actually, I'm pretty sure the majority of people) do these quests that pop into the pipboy. If it's radiant faction quests, that's a small fraction of the quests in your pipboy. It's not about clutter. It's about people nitpicking every tiny aspect of the game.

I'm not irritated with the amount of quests. I'm irritated with the lack of organization in the pipboy, specifically the quest log. This game has a lot of quests and side content. The problem isn't the quests themselves, it's the messy pipboy interface.

I just treat it as a “Hey, bored and want something to do? Here's some quests!” The radiant quests, while annoying, do give you XP and money. It's good if you're in the mood to binge on radiant quests.

But they aren't catering to anybody. I'm fairly certain that if you asked people if they wanted their screen to get cluttered with a bunch of quests they were never going to do, thereby making it more of a slog to sort through, nobody would seriously say yes.

I think the horrible interface and the quests automatically being added to your Pip-Boy go hand in hand. It's a messy interface that's already a pain to go through, and that problem is exacerbated by being unable to refuse quests or get rid of unwanted items. It's salt in the wounds.

But yes, having folders for quests like BoS, RR, INST, MM, SQ, and Misc. would be welcome. As would a HIDE option.

I never fail to be amused that every gamer on the internet seems to think every game should... nay, MUST cater to their specific tastes/desires.

"Hi Bethesda, my wife hates cockroaches, why were you so lazy/incompetent/heartless so as to not make it an option to turn radroaches off, now I can't play the game with her in the room. Terrible game design."

So they're in your quest log until you do them. So what. Take 2 seconds to untick them, and get on with other stuff.

It's people like you that make Bethesda feel excused for what is just lazy game and interface design.

No game will ever be perfect because people are different. Millions of people play fallout 4, there will always be complaints about stuff and sometimes things are just mutually exclusive so will end up annoying someone no matter what they do. I agree, that you should be able to decline quests, but failing that, deleting them from your pipboy would be acceptable. I killed the RR, and still have their stupid quests sitting there. When it annoys me enough, I will use the console to get rid of it. What annoy me much more than that though is how unorganised the misc category can get after a while. Every little key and note and crap you pick up that you can't drop afterwards, makes finding things such a hassle. Keys/passwords should be on a seperate tab or organised away from holotapes and notes.

Fallout 3 had a keyring.Where did it go?They couldn't spare the 4 minutes necessary to implement it?Now I'm on pc so all of this things will be sorted out in a year's time with mods.Mods are what made skyrim a great game for me.Without them it was just...ok.

Yup, I have a console and play some games on it but for a lot of games mods are where it is at and I could never bring myself to play a bethesda game on a console. I managed to play just over 100 hours before adding my first mod and it has made my game 1000% more entertaining.

The "Not right now," or a flat out "No," dialogue option needs to be a thing. Cannot be patched/modded in soon enough.

Because there is nothing worst than "QUEST FAILED" popping up when you proceed with the game.I didn't fail.I didn't even accept your stupid little radiant quest!

Having more than 4 responses at a time would be a good thing to have too, I guess more of the time when you can't do something in dialogue it was because it was 5th on the list of important things to be able to say.

It is rather bizarre for an RPG to not have an "abandon quest" option. The Pipboy menu is bad enough as is. Why they removed some of the tabs from past games is beyond me. They took a step back instead. The misc tab is a hot mess. In the very least keys, quest items and notes/holotapes should be their own respective tabs. There should also be a most recently acquired filter like every other modern Rpg.
