Getting Rid of Houses

Post » Wed Dec 16, 2015 7:23 am

I've been having a lot of fun with settlement building with my current character. I've built a major structure, and torn it down twice, and I'm considering doing it again. The thing is though, that no matter what I do, there are two houses that I can't scrap that screw things up entirely. I suppose those houses were made immune to scrapping because the devs were afraid the game would be unbalanced if we could just clear the areas we wanted to...

Anyway, has anybody tried "mark for delete" on one of those houses? If so, is there a concrete base under it, or is there a graphics hole in the ground at that point?

Are they completely collapsed? They have to be that kind, otherwise you cannot scrap them at all. if they are, are you in the build mode, and if you are, I have no clue how to help.

No, they are not collapsed, and cannot be scrapped normally. that's why I'm asking about MarkForDelete, eh? I guess we are supposed to use them for shelter, even though they have huge holes in the walls and ceilings. It amazes me that I can build a better shelter in an hour or so with a little rope and some branches in a wilderness than can be built from exisiting structures in this game. I can't imagine anyone surviving even one New England winter with such poor shelter, nor why anyone would try to.

must be a PC thing. I play on console, so MarkforDelete does not ring any bells. I would use them anyways, since that is less material needed for putting shelter in the settlement.

New England winter? I wish they added seasons! would add so much more to the survivability aspect of the game. but, alas, I assume in the aftermath, we only get one season and occasional fallout storms and rain.

Just eye candy so they don't stand around like zombies. Their hammering doesn't do anything.

Yeah. Way back when, I wrote a mod that created seasonal weather for Morrowind. It really isn't that hard to do, so I don't know why we don't have seasonal weather.
