Conflicting reports, do we need it?

Do we or do we not need the long string of items (forget what all there is) in the Fallout 4 .ini file that follows STRINGS/, etc.

I know at first Gopher's video said that we needed it in there. Then we didn't. I recently took it out and my game started having crashing issues. I put it back in and now I'm getting some stuttering. Ugh. What's the latest on this?

I think you need it there or in the custom ini file. I do not know if Nexus Mod Manager adds that to the ini file if it does then you do not need it if using NMM to manage mods.

If you have loose* files, you currently need it.

*Files not associated with an ESP or ESM file, such as texture replacer mods.

Well, I'm using the default Fallout4.ini line (sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\) in conjunction with the Fallout4Custom.ini file.

My Fallout4Custom.ini has the following lines:

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

I only use loose files and that all works fine for me.

If it isn't broken, I don't fix it.

Meaning, I still have those in my .ini

This definitely works for me as well.

Adding more to sResourceDataDirsFinal and editing any other file then Fallout4Custom.ini is completely redundant.
