Silver Shroud Issue

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2015 12:27 pm

I have killed DeLancy, AJ and Kendra as the silver shroud. I returned to GoodNeighbor and after listening to the silver shround channel was told to go see Mayor Hancock. when I try to speak to him he is only interested in being my compainion. Not able to get the next task which is to kill smiling Katy. I did on assassinate Shelly Tiller since it was optional. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yah, I think you HAVE to accept him as a companion ---- he has a little speech he gives to his citizenry before "leaving" them to join you ---- and THEN you can talk to him about other things. And then send him packing, if you like.

Both are correct. If he is not your current companion, then all you get is the standard ready to travel again dialogue.

Ya, I had a similar issue with my second playthrough, and it's a bummer. Fortunately, my first playthrough it went fine and I got the "special" dialogue. However, on my second run, I was able to complete it, but I didn't get any of the "speak as SS" choices.

Just make him your companion... Stop trying to fit a square peg into a round hole...

I'm having the same issue but it's not that he wants to be my companion, it's that he won't acknowledge that I've already killed Bobbi on his insistence after The Big Dig. He keeps telling me to go do that, but I already have. I never accepted him as a companion when first offered, whenever that was, and now that isn't even an option.

This, make him your companion and THEN talk to him! You will then get the quest dialogue.

@ LameLefty: Bobbi has nothing to do with the Shroud quest line, that's the Big Dig and not sure what the issue is there. I never killed her.

I had a weird glitch kind of related to this. Earlier in the game Hancock asks you to go investigate the Pickman Gallery. I left that task on hold for a while, and ended up completing 'The Big Dig' which is the quest where Hancock becomes available as a companion. A while later I did end up going to the Pickman Gallery, but I was unable to complete it afterward because when I talked to Hancock only the companion dialog was available. Quite some time later I did the Silver Shroud quest and I brought Hancock along because I figured he could appreciate cleaning up the streets of Goodneighbor (this was before I knew he became a part of the quest). I killed the first few people, and then got the optional 'Assassinate Kelly Tiller' portion. I went to the National Guard Training Yard, found her uninteresting, and killed her. I got a message saying 'Hancock hated that.' Usually I'll reload after this happens, because I'm currently still trying to max out Hancock's affinity. However, I talked to him right after killing her to get his thoughts, and he said "When I asked you to go to the Pickman Gallery, I never thought you'd bring me with you!" and then the Pickman Gallery quest completion was triggered, I was paid, and it was cleared from my log. Afterward I was able to finish the Silver Shroud quest normally. This was odd. He said "I never thought you'd bring me HERE" as though we were at the Pickman Gallery...but we were at the National Guard Training Yard.

Obviously I don't think this offers any kind of solution, but this portion of the game is definitely bugged somehow. Hopefully it gets addressed.

I have a similar problem, but I can't even ask Hancock to be my companion. I try to talk to him in my Shroud getup to trigger the next part of the quest and he just spouts the same 2 lines about 'taking care' of a particular nasally-challenged NPC...which I've already done. After that he asked to tag along with me, and I declined. Now, no matter what I do, I go back and he's leaning against the same wall, going on about gangland style murders. I even went back to where I killed the NPC he told me to, to see if I missed anything, but there was nothing or nobody there.

And I'm on XB1 so I can't even use console commands to make it work.

Kind of a bummer. I started a new playthrough just to get to complete this quest and get him as a possible companion.

That's odd, I never had to make him my companion and I finished the quest but this is a known bug. It must have something to do with our dialog choices at some point.

Save I guess. :)

It isn't a bug, if you are doing the mission that ends in making Hancock your companion, then you must... well... make Hancock your companion to finish it.

Then you can go about the totally different mission of being the Silver Shroud.

I'm actually writing more Hancock and Silver Shroud dialogue right now for my mod, it will be epic!

I did the Silver Shroud quest all the way through before ever even hinting at having Hancock as a companion. He was not my companion in any way whatsoever.

Did it before the Big Dig, which I have heard can cause problems....

The whole quest needs a major overhaul. For a game that usually holds your hand this one provided very few clues and allow things to happen that should never be allowed until you get it right.

First my silver machine gun was taken from a chest at Sancturay by one of my settlers and hocked for a good time since it is no where to be found.

Second I found Pickman Gallery before ever entering Goodneighbor during a normal scrounging/loot of the commonwealth and saved him. Why was this area not locked off until I get the quest?

Never having a reason to talk with the current mayor of goodneighbor(my player has issues with authority figures) I never went up to his office but his stupid robot bar tender gave me the quests while wearing normal armor and I took them all out

not as the SS.

Right now I just want to CC the dam items and radio station out of my inventory which I have been staring at forever and never return to this quest or accepting it again in future plays.

Pickman Gallery has nothing to do with the Silver Shroud, that is a separate Hancock thing.

The Silver Shroud quests were some of my favorite in the entire game.
