Actually, despite faults, these are the best companions I have seen in a long while, especially with their ability to teleport next to you. I just do my stuff and don't care about the companion, knowing that they will find their way.

He's just my crazy dog. I will have no Companions this play through and I take him along. He gets in the way, is nuts in combat and is often missing. Cool, he's just my crazy dog.
No companions for this Sole Survivor. But, because I wanted to give things a fair trial before making that decision, I tried three separate companions.
Cogsworth wasn't bad as a fighter, but I hated having him critique my looting decisions. Next!
Nick wasn't bad overall, but he tended to get in the way a lot. And he frequently stole my computer hacking opportunities. Next!
Dogmeat was an absolute disaster. I don't particularly like dogs in real life so having this one forced upon me (during that one quest where I was forced to follow it) was quite irritating. And the whining and wimpering was simply intolerable. Go away, stay away. Dogmeat was banished to the only settlement that I didn't put on a supply trail. He stays there with...
Companions, done.
I'm MUCH happier as a solo player, especially with my Lone Wanderer perks. Bliss!
Dear Dogmeat.
thank you for your insane ability to pick something up that doesnt exist, or is locked behind a door etc...
but good god you are WORSE Than my cat when it comes to GETTING OUT OF THE ******* WAY.
as annoying as Dogmeat can be, he is the only companion I wil ever use
he never judges you, will give his life for you, and dogs have unconditional love for their owners
to quote Slipknots Corey Taylor - "People = Sh!t"
Just realized that today, it's a pain to use your companions as a weapon when you are hidding, you send them somewhere to attack the enemies and they always come back pulling the aggro on you, if you send them over the area and ask them to stay they just never attack. Sometimes you want them to attack a turret but you don't get the option to attack it, instead you get the option to inspect it. It's annoying.
I agree and would extend this letter to all companions. I remember going from "sweet I get a companion in power armor?!" to "GET THE [censored] OUT OF MY WAY!" very very fast.
