How do I follow a radio signal?

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2015 8:05 pm

I haven't done much with these, but I followed one and I kept getting a signal strength indicator that helped me zero in on the source. But Now I've tried to find and follow more and I see that many of them don't have a signal strength indicator. How the heck am I supposed to zero in on these? For example, I think I've followed the Greenbriar signal to the point where I get no static, but I can't find this bunker by the river that the recording mentions. I know I can just look it up on the wiki, but I want to understand how I'm supposed to find these w/o cheating.

Headphones is the answer :) I had a hard time following a few, but really, it's just a matter of wandering around until you hear no static and a clear signal. And yes, on my end the Greenbriar one has been the hardest to find so far, but I'm not going to spoil the exact location for you. Just keep looking!

I'm not sure if you noticed but as you are walking around the signal becomes clearer and it fades out to static. Guess which one of those you want it to be. Head in the direction that's clearer and actually listen to it as it will give you clues about what you are looking for.

Well, for the specific one he is looking for "we're in a bunker, by the river bank" isn't necessarily the most specific information in the world. Especially considering how obscurely hidden it is. I myself had trouble going up and down the bank looking for it.

I feel like they could have included some sort of haptic feedback for gamepads/consoles in terms of signal strength. It could be a pulse or simply the strengthening of the rumble pads.

I have headphones. I'll put 'em on and see if the static is clearer (pun intended). Thanks. :goodjob:

I was also having trouble finding Greenbriar (and the one in the trailer park near Fort Hagen)... I finally broke down and went on the internet and realized why I had not found them. I was looking for a "bunker", like a Vault-style giant door or even something like a Root Cellar, but these "bunker" entrances are (so far) just flat on the ground and BARELY big enough to get through --- not sure how someone in Power Armor could logically FIT through the entrances.

Using the headphones really helped. The static was far more definitive and I found *the bunker*.
