I don’t know for how long this problem has been present, but for at least two weeks I have noticed an issue in Skyrim, where my character gets a permanent blue hue on their face. It only affects my character and no other npc as far as I am aware, and I don’t know what it’s about since I have done absolutely everything conceivable to solve the problem, but to no avail. What happends is my character gets a blur hue on their head and neck, not the kind of blue you get when a mod for a head is not installed or loaded properly, but rather a purple-ish kind of blue, like my character has a tight rubber band around the bottom of their neck, cause it is actually realistically looking like they are chocking by the colour of their face. The color does not replace any skin texture even if it is always present, but rather it blends in, like it was the standard blank face colour all along where all other skin texture where to be painted on. For example if I play a Nord character I get a sort of purple/blue face, High Elf is a green face (yellow + blue), and Redguard sort of grayish (brown + blue). This issue affects all races and sixes. One thing I have noticed is it is not present in the intro scene in Helgen when you create your character, but rather it comes into motion immediately after when you enter the keep and zoom out into 3rd person, or if you use the showracemenu sooner to see your character, and then it stays on forever.
This is what I have done to try and solve the issue:
- Disable all plugins possible, still same result.
- Uninstall all mods through NMM, still same result.
- Uncheck all my Steam account Skyrim subscriptions (which adds up to a total of none), still same result.
- Delete the entire data folder and recreate it by reinstalling the game, still same result.
- Delete the entire Skyrim folder in SteamApps, as well the folder where saves are stored, then make a complete reinstall through steam, still same result.
- Do everything I can with my graphics settings for Skyrim through my NVidia panel, as well as my Skyrim graphics settings, still same result.
- Delete all my Steam subscriptions for all my other games except for Dota 2 and Civ5, still same result.
Do all of the above again and check cache after wards, still same result.
- After I was not able to fix this issue with my computer I switched to my laptop instead, with completely different hardware and software. I did not have Skyrim installed on this computer so I installed it from the beginning through Steam, and just started the vanilla game without any mods what so ever, and I got the exact same result!
After this I don’t know what to do, I am not subscribed to any mods through steam, I have absolutely no mods installed, I have tried the same thing on two different computers, I have disabled the dlcs even, and started a new game every time. If anyone can’t come up with any solution to this I must assume that my registered product through Steam must have become corrupt in their storage, or else I am just crazy.
