Weird things at Outpost Zimonja...

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2015 1:50 pm

A few minutes ago something very weird happened during my F4 gameplay. I was wandering around outpost Zimonja, when suddenly everything went broke almost at the same time! Food, water, power, defense! I begun searching for the various materials needed to fix the various problems, when all of a sudden food was almost auto-restored, defense almost returned to full function, and with a single fix I solved the problem.

I want to point out that this strange event looks to me inesplicable and, to a certain level, unpleasant. It is not believable that with no evident cause everything in a settlement goes broke in a moment!

Had the same stuff happen to me in abernathy farm (or whatever it's called). Fast travelled there and saw tato plants, water pumps & turrets slowly break in front of me. Repaired everything instantly so didn't get to see if it could repair itself, but it's definitely a weird bug.

I have experienced the same thing at the Slog. I believe it was the aftermath of an attack I did not respond to. But if you don't respond to an attack the game auto fixes everything after a short time and you just witnessed that repair.

Nah there wasn't any attack, in fact all the settlers were doing was whining for water and food, no complaints about attacks. Everything just started breaking down in front of me. At first I even thought there was some kind of water shortage that made tato plants arid and that I needed to do something, but I started understanding when even the turrets broke down in front of me for no apparent reason.

Whenever I look at the settlements in my Pip Boy, whether its on the settlement screen or just on the map. They all say they have less of EVERYTHING than they really have, less people, food, water, lower happiness. This is clearly a bug, point is there are a lot of bugs in the settlement building systems, it's the first time they have done it and I'm not surprised that there are some things that need ironing out.

Making sure to never fast travel until you're outside the settlement boundary fixes almost all occurrences of this bug. It's somewhat irratating to have to walk all the way over the bridge in Sanctuary before being able to FT out, but it very definitely helps with the mis-reporting bug.

He follows you? First time I met him, I scrapped the computer that controls him before I realized what it was for, so he just kept circling the barn, tripping out. Second play-through, I used the computer to send him back to the factory (have not been to see if he arrived there). Did not know he could follow you.

So over Settlements - such a great idea, so poorly implemented. We put hours upon hours into setting up decent structures and defences, and it's all for [censored]e since none of it works unless we're personally there at every raid, and even then everything might get broken anyway.

I'm letting them go - I have better things to do than run around the map constantly patrolling and micromanaging a dozen or more Settlements. Only went to some of these places for a paycheck - didn't know working for them once would make me personally responsible for their well-being forever after.

I had one strange occurrence at Tenpines. Sometime after the population grew from 7 to 8 happiness tanked from 70 to 30. It was not a gradual decline; it was instant.

I fast traveled there to see if it was attacked. There was no damage whatsoever and no one was killed. Since this occurred sometime after the 8th settler showed up, I sent that settler to somewhere else and I turned off the recruitment beacon. Happiness slowly increased to 40 but stagnated there for a couple of days. It then started to creep up again and is now currently at 53.

Not sure what's going on since both Food and Water production are more than double the population and defense is at least 140. There's enough power for a Jukebox, Radio and TV. There's more than enough beds for everyone and everyone has a roof over their heads. There is even a guard dog.
