Playing [on PC] with an XBOX ELITE Controller

Post » Sun Dec 20, 2015 5:39 am

I am curious if any PC players are using the XBox ELITE controller.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/controllers/elite-wireless-controller

I would love to get one, but the $150 price tag has held me back so far. Are we able to properly use the additional features on a PC platform (and specifically Fallout 4)? Features such as programmable buttons and the new additional triggers on the underside. I would love to be able to (for example) remap 'sprint' to one of the new triggers, and also the 'open settlement building' function. I'm sure other ideas will occur to me after a while, but I really don't want to spend the money on the controller if I can't use it to do what I think it should be able to do (there is a possibility that I misunderstand the feature set of the controller).

If this is this case, I will just stick to the 'regular' XBoxOne controller which I presently use. (Yes, I perfer using a controller for this game, let's not get off topic please.)

I too have been eyeballing the Elite. If there's native F4 pc support for the new inputs i'll get one. I'm currently using an Xpadded 360 for all the hot keys, but i lost rumble. Hmm, I wonder if Xpadder will recognize the new Elite inputs.

Windows 10 is required for the Elite Controller App. Otherwise you cannot bind the new paddles.

AFAIK. The extra paddles are simply mapping standard buttons/inputs. For example: P1 is mapped to Button 'A' and P2 is mapped to Button 'X', and P3 is mapped to right-thumb stick depress, etc...

The App stores the rebinding on the controllers firmware (two profiles available).

Fallout 4 cannot tell the difference between Button A and P1 (if bound like previously stated), they use the same Xinput call. These paddles aren't universal macro buttons.

Fallout 4 has Xinput support, but it cannot tell the difference between a XBOX one controller, 360 controller, and a Logitech controller (with Xinput support).

I don't know if xpadder could even detect the added paddles, or at least would see them as duplicated buttons depending on how the firmware is configured.

After googling some more it seems Xpadder will have to be updated to use the paddles freely. You might be able to get some added functionality depending on which inputs are being duplicated by the paddles. Oh well, thanks for the heads up West Virginia.

Can you even get one at the moment? I tried to get my son one not long back and they were sold out everywhere.

I'd look at it as would your PC benefit from having that $150+ invested in maybe an SSD, more RAM, or even towards a GPU upgrade?

Looks like some of the Game Stop's have them. Best Buy's are sold out in my area.

It's one of those things that sounds a lot on paper, but when you actually get to hold one in your hands you see why they cost so much compared to a standard X1 controller..... I will be grabbing on when xmas is out the way.

@2much41.
Maybe they are finally getting a few more out there then.... They really underestimated how well they would sell.

Good point. I should probably focus on finding a way to playing F4 at more than 17fps. BTW hope to see a hunting mod for F4 :).
