Companion Perk not going away

Post » Sun Dec 20, 2015 9:11 am

Hi all

I recently maxed out my affinity with Piper, and got the Gift of Gab perk (but opted not to romance her). Shortly afterward I maxed affinity with Cait, and did her Benign Intervention quest. After the quest, I noted that I did not get her affinity perk (nor any chance to romance her). Checking my Pip-Boy shows that Gift of Gab was still listed under my perks although Piper was no longer with me. Is that preventing Cait's perk from appearing? In a way it is a good problem because Piper's perk is preferable to Cait's, but it is also stopping me from romancing Cait.

Or is it possible that I did something which upset Cait while doing Benign Intervention which lowered the affinity required for the perk and romance at the end? I tried removing Gift of Gab using the console (player.removeperk 178d59) prior to completing Benign Intervention but it didn't make a difference - no new perk, no romance option.

Thanks for any ideas or help!

Ian

You have not reached maximum affinity with Cait. Pick more locks or just be naked ... :liplick:

Once you get a companion perk, they stay with you even if yiu dismiss the relevant companion

Thanks for the replies all! I thought that you needed to max affinity before she'd give you her quest, so that explains it! In retrospect I did Piper's quest before even recruiting her, so it should have been obvious!

Great to know that Gift of Gab will stay with me regardless of which companion I'm using - I recall in FNV you lost the relevant Companion Perk if you dismissed your companion, resulting in me taking some companions just for their perk even if I didn't really like them. So does this mean I can get Deacon's perk as well without having to keep him with me after I've done his quests? Love his perk, but don't really like the man.

You still have to "endure" him till you get his perk. :liplick:
