custom .ini

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2015 11:19 pm

I recently uninstalled/reinstalled Fallout 4 in order to try and start a clean game. I deleted the .ini files in my games folder and once I reinstalled the game and started it up the prefs and ini file were back. However, I do not have a custom ini file in there. Do I need to create this? I can't remember how or when it got into my system.

I wouldn't about it. Mine only had two lines pertaining to the resolution.

The Custom.ini is there to make your own ini edits and as far as I know overwrites the other ini files. Also I do not think it gets cleared out when an update is made or verifying the game cache.

Where does it come from? I had to re-create the .ini file and I'm not sure what all goes in the default text.

I think the game create ones if there is not one.

I think by default there are only 2 lines under the display.

The game never created a custom .ini file for me. I had to create it. Which is why I'm concerned about it.

I've tried everything I can think of. I cannot get my computer to create the Fallout4Custom.ini file on it's own. I have to create it myself. Does anyone know what or how it is created?

Doesn't matter. Mine had been there ever since I installed the game.

It's the only ini which "verify game cache" and the game's patches won't touch. Changes to it are done manually and it seems to override the other ini's.

Right, but for some reason I feel like if I create one it's not the same. I feel as though it needs to be the systems file and not one I made.
