BoS quests and ballistic weave glitches. PLEASE HELP.

Post » Fri Jan 08, 2016 9:57 pm

Greetings.

New Member here.

PC user, specs not needed for this post.

I have joined the forum today due to two very specific problems I am currently encountering. (I apologize if posting in the wrong place)

I am currently a level 73 stealth/sniper build with over 10 days logged in-game and i have seemingly encountered two glitches that are starting to feel a bit game breaking. I currently have no options for ballistic weave modding and I have yet to have any BoS quests beyond the first encounter and subsequent radials.

1. After having completed all PAM and Tinker Tom (weather vane things) radial quests, having even run the safe house quests to completion, there has been NO mention of ballistic weave mods from Tom. When approached, a barter menu and shopping conversation are all that is available. It is worth mentioning that PAM will not even speak to my toon any longer as all other possible quests have been exhausted. I am level 73, required perks maxed out, blah, blah, blah....have even tried to straight mod the applicable armor types with NO option for ballistic weave mods.....The Railroad has nothing left, at this point, for me to accomplish....

2. No quests for the BoS. I have held off on completing the quest "Reunions" (the internet states completing this quest is a pre-requisite for BoS quests to trigger) , however, also according to the web, if i have already joined the BoS by helping with the gun fight and ultimately taking rank in the Brotherhood BEFORE "reunions" is completed (exactly what i have done), then i am to be glitched out of the BoS faction, pretty much, entirely........wat?!

sauce: (see Polygon website: "Reveille Walk through" as this forum will not allow me to post a link to my sauce)

(there seems to be contradicting info in the above mentioned article in terms of specifics....i will be completing "reunions" tonight after work in hopes of bypassing this possible glitch but am not hopeful)

In conclusion,

I have thoroughly searched the web regarding these issues and have turned up less than informative results, namely Reddit and various gaming mag sites that seem to confirm these things can happen, but with varying degrees of confirmation that these are actual glitches.

I do NOT want to rely on the dev console for fixes as i am a purist and want nothing to do with cheating until i beat the game. It may be worth mentioning that i have no interest in simply starting over either, the no level cap being my motivation to run this character for a very very long time.

I appreciate any feedback/thoughts/shared experiences or insight you all may have and thank you kindly for your time.

Have you also done all the quest for that doctor at the RR? Not sure if it's required but he had several quests also and one or two of them might have been required to get the BW.

Edit: Since we have been moved to the spoiler section i'll remove the spoiler tags.

You should have got the Ballistic weave after your first DIA Cache mission (after completing other missions).....although I might have got lucky getting it first time.

On the BOS, I'm not sure what you mean, prior to reunions the only BOS in the Commonwealth is Paladin Danse and the remnants of his team, making contact with them gets you access to the Brotherhood recurring missions and a companion.......Reunions (assuming you leave by the roof after completion) brings the main force of the Brotherhood in to the game and is the next step in the main story, I believe if you haven't made contact with BOS before this event you can head to the airport to make contact but I've never tried. Have you tried going to Danse's location at the Police Station to activate the quests, you can do this at any time prior to Reunions at least.

I find the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Wiki provides a lot of the answers to these sort of questions.

I too have done a number of Railroad quests, and no one has mentioned ballistic weave. Every time I go there, I make sure to talk to everyone and still no luck. Is there a console command to set things right? (on the PC)

In no way am i concerned with spoilers, however i appreciate your discretion ( i think this post got moved to the right place now)

Thanks for the links as well, i will continue reading/researching....

I have made sure to follow all online directives and i am aware the option for ballistic weave comes directly after only one/a few PAM/Cache missions. No dice. Whatsoever.

I was referring to the Paladin Danse first encounter with the gun fight and following quest he gives you. According to the link i was not allowed to post, if you encounter BoS Paladin Danse and complete the gun fight and JOIN them immediately, but complete "Reunions" AFTER this, i supposedly won't have access to the BoS. As mentioned, the article is a bit contradictory as it confusingly states at one point if you help Danse but DON'T join I get locked out, or if i help Danse AND join, i get locked out.....i am totally lost, hence this post. I have gone back to Danse and co. and have no options from them other than the two radial quests that repeat continuously. I am going to continue plot tonight and see if i can get the BoS to open up. fingers crossed.

Yeah, i have done all the Doc quests as well. He only offers med services at this point. :(

Thanks for the ideas, Folks. very appreciated. (sorry, but i had to remove all links from this post, as i am not allowed to post links at this time)

update:

Looks as if Ballistic Weave is a glitch and the only answer to this is to use the dev console commands. Boo.

BoS can be glitched, but it appears i may be okay as long as i complete the quest "Reunions" and exit via a ladder.....which i will be attempting tonight.

@Helljumper, thanks for the wiki links, much less confusing than web search results of various forums and for giving me something tangible to work with. :)

I hear ya, I try to be a no console commands purist too, but all bets are off when the game glitches out even though I've done everything correct.

Well I met Danse, joined BOS and completed several missions before Reunions so I don't think that there is a problem there, Meeting Danse seems to be the only way to join the Brotherhood since he sponsors your recruitment. Since your getting the radial quests that means you are an initiate in the Brotherhood and you will not get any other missions until the after Reunions when you must meet up with them at the airport.....when you board the airship makes sure you talk to the head scribe, the ship's captain, the scientist upstairs and the trader all of whom give you quests. I don't see any reason why you would be locked out as you seem to be following the usual path and you only get different quests once you meet up with the airship.
